Guest guest Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 The labs that showed TSH only was drawn on Friday March 3rd. Those are the results I posted today and he is dropping me back to 90 mg. Thyroid-s has nothing on the label except - 200 tablets each contain: thyroid extract 60 mg - indications - hypothyroidism - dosage adult : initially 30-250 mg daily directed by a physician. Thanks so much for your help I am so glad you are out there. Mari Quote
Guest guest Posted March 6, 2006 Report Posted March 6, 2006 Hi Topper, Here is one of many explainations of L-Tyrosine: What is it? L-tyrosine is a nonessential amino acid (protein building block) that the body synthesizes from phenylalanine, another amino acid. Tyrosine is important to the structure of almost all proteins in the body. It is also the precursor of several neurotransmitters, including L-dopa, dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine. L-tyrosine, through its effect on neurotransmitters, may affect several health conditions, including Parkinson's disease, depression, and other mood disorders. Studies have suggested that tyrosine may help people with depression.1 Preliminary findings indicate a beneficial effect of tyrosine, along with other amino acids, in people affected by dementia, including Alzheimer's disease.2 Due to its role as a precursor to norepinephrine and epinephrine (two of the body's main stress-related hormones) tyrosine may also ease the adverse effects of environmental, psychosocial, and physical stress.3 4 5 6 7 8 9 <snip> http://www.pccnaturalmarkets.com/health/Supp/Tyrosine.htm Gossimer > > I might be remembering wrong.. but L-Tyrosine is a stimulator to gland > production.. some one jump in and correct or verify that.... > > I'm not impressed with the bio-dren.. a good multi with some extra B > complex would be as beneficial... Guest guest Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 But when you are trying to give adrenals a chance to recover from a fatigued state the LAST thing you want to do is stimulate them... stimulation increases their production, good for the short term, but does not allow them to recover, only makes things worse in the long run.... Guest guest Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 Ya gotta change docs and get someone who is willing to test more than that. It ain't so that TSH tells the story. Guest guest Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 Am I wrong, , or is it the astragalus that has iodine in it? I'm pulling this out of memory somewhere, but haven't looked it up recently, so could be very wrong here. I know that it is used for sinus and allergies I believe, by some people. Re: Ok...he only did a TSH test Topper and anyone, I understand about the other test and did request them, I was told by the nurse he forgot to put on the paper and will do all of them in 6 weeks and I am to fast after midnight for them. Guest guest Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 I don't know about the astragalus having iodine... it probably does as everything has a little bit of something in it. I read about the other ingrediets in a natural healing book. Guest guest Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 Yep, amen to that. This is one thing that I can't understand about folks that take licorice who still have adrenal fatigue. You can't get "blood out of a turnip", and that's what's going on. Can't create more cortisol or dhea from nothing. They need to be supported by the substance that is missing so that they can rest and build for awhile, without becoming completely lazy forever. BTW, there is a tiny amt of licorice in my AIM Herbal FiberBlend, so I'm really wondering about this. The stuff works so well though. Re: Ok...he only did a TSH test But when you are trying to give adrenals a chance to recover from a fatigued state the LAST thing you want to do is stimulate them... stimulation increases their production, good for the short term, but does not allow them to recover, only makes things worse in the long run.... Guest guest Posted March 7, 2006 Report Posted March 7, 2006 That's just it.. you don't want to stimulate adrenals... you want to rest them.... by providing replacement hormone for a period of time so that they can rest and get caught up.... by stimulating them you work them harder and make things worse... The short simple story about adrenals. Adrenals are little hormone pumps that like to just chug away at their work and filling up a reserve tank of hormone... then, when we need that hormone the little gate gets opened up and we get what we need, it closes and the adrenals just keep chugging away like happy little bees.... When our thyroid hormones are low, when we skip meals (especially breakfast) or have a lot of stress or even miss sleep... our body needs more of that hormone and that little gate has to stay open longer and release more of that reserve... and all the while the little adrenal glands just chug away working on topping off that tank. As more and more hormone is released from the tank the adrenals have to kick up their production to keep the tank topped off... and as this continues they reach the point where they are busting their ittty bitty adrenal butts trying too keep the tank topped off... and as it keeps going, our body using more and more and more hormone cuz of low thyroid or poor eating habits or too much stress it reaches a point where no matter how hard the poor little adrenals work they can't keep that tank topped off any more.... Time marches on, the adrenals are working full speed all the time now and the level of the tank is dropping as time passes until it gets so low that when we get up in the morning there isn't enough in the tank for the little gate to be opened.... so the poor adrenals go into over drive and try like crazy just to get enough made to get the level high enough so that the little gate can open.... As things continue it takes longer and longer each day until there is enough in the tank for the gate to open... that's when we start getting into the sleep problems... Slow to start mornings, second wind late in the day, can't go to sleep at night even though your dead on your feet, waking in the wee hours of the morning, still tired and can't go back to sleep. With adrenal support what you are doing is adding some hormone so that the adrenals can catch up on filling the reserve tank.. and then start slowing down again, moving out of overdrive... then out of hyper speed.. then slow out of full speed and move back to their happy speed of just chugging along so that they only have to worry about keeping the tank topped off so that there is always enough there when we need it. Add a stimulator to the adrenals and it's like tossing ice water on a baby that has been crying for hours from being over tired while you're trying to get him to go to sleep. That baby ain't going to be going to sleep anytime soon so that he can get some rest and wake up feeling like a happy baby instead of a crabby little scream machine. Get the idea? We have to help them catch up and get back into a routine that keeps us healthy... not force them to work even harder. Topper () *time to shush... Guest guest Posted March 8, 2006 Report Posted March 8, 2006 Yeh, I'm beginning to think you're right. Seems to me, on that little bit of Armour, even, along with T4, that both Frees would be running sort of neck 'n neck, but not so. T3 is proportionately lower, even though it may be ok at that RANGE for me. But if I'm having trouble converting, even just a little bit, what the heck else is going on in there at those cell receptors, I've got to wonder?? I also eat a TON of Brazil nuts, Cashews, and all those other kinds of nuts, but not peanuts. Only a little peanut butter now and then. It's only a shot in the dark, but I know that I was doing very well on T4 alone right up until I was "chemically poisoned", if that's what it was, when I had the falling down vertigo. Both idiots didn't even do any blood work on me at all. As a matter of fact, the primary referred me to the ENT specialist, but the ENT referred me back to the primary. I was so angry at the time, mainly because I knew what the reason was for both of them doing this. I frankly think that the industrial poisoning that is already down here on the Tx Gulf Coast has destroyed the brains of ALL doctors in this area, but it may also have destroyed something in me, along with what those Mexican fires did. Oh yes, and since raising my dose of Armour to the 45 mgs, my skin has begun to crawl again, like bugs are crawling on me all over. That had never happened while taking this one, at least not with me identifying it as the Armour, but it was happening when I took all Armour. I have no idea if that would be allergy or T3 effects, I'm stymied by it. It comes and goes during the day, over the past few days. No wheals or flares, just this crawling sensation.
