Guest guest
Lena, I think that as far as the clothing goes, use whatever you are comfortable in. If that's sweats and a Tee, so be it. If it's spandex capri's and a tank top, so be it... I wear cut off sweats and a tank with a sports bra. As far as the bra's go, I use a sports bra because they definitely cut down on " The Bounce " . :-) They press you down instead of lift you up and, for me, that's more comfortable to exercise in. Shoes: I use a basic cross trainer, I have Adidas right now, but I love New Balance shoes. I use a Cross Trainer because they are good for a variety of exercise and not limited to one, such as Running Shoes or Walking Shoes...etc. Go to your local fitness/sporting goods store and talk to someone in the shoe department. They should be able to help you find the best shoe for your needs and feet. And, buy the best you can afford. Cheap shoes are the worst enemy to a decent work out. I think I spent around $80.00 on my last pair and they have lasted three years. It's about time for me to get a new pair. Hope this helps!! Take care and good luck! Guest guest
Lena - It depends on what kind of workout you're doing...if you're doing a little of everything (light weights, treadmill, bike, etc.) just find a pair of sneakers that are comfortable and supportive. Runners World (www.runnersworld.com) reviews running shoes frequently, and they also tell us which shoes are better for heavier runners. I would suggest if you'll be doing any impact stuff to get good running shoes for heavy runners. If you are going to do any heavy weightlifting, you want shoes that are a little flatter (they look almost like booties) so you are less likely to twist an ankle. For clothes, it mostly depends on what is comfortable for you. They make some great, lightweight fabrics now if you are in hot areas. I find running bras more supportive (I'm a C-cup) and more comfortable - not to mention they " breathe " easier. Here in the SF Bay Area it can get pretty chilly, so I wear exercise pants, exercise bra, t-shirt, and a long-sleeved light sweatshirt that I can take off and wrap around my waist when it gets warm (and to hide my butt!) FYI everyone else - anyone interested in running? Runners World also has a website for people just getting started. www.newrunner.com. I just discovered it this morning. I used to run (did 2 half-marathons) and now 40 lbs and 2 injuries later I just went out for my first run/walk in about 3 years! Hope this helps! -- Loring
Guest guest
Lena, I think it depends on what type of workout you are doing. The main thing is to dress comfortably. Wear what makes you feel comfortable. There is nothing wrong with wearing jogging pants, a t-shirt and an old pair of tennis shoes (I have done that many times). If you get too hot in the jogging pants, find some knit or mesh shorts. If your feet hurt after a workout, you might want to get a new pair of shoes. Maybe ones with more arch support. Working out is not (nor should it be) a fashion show. As for a sports bra, I would always recommend one. They have ones that you have to wrestle to get on, and they also have ones that zip (much easier). But they aren't always needed. I guess it depends on the impact of what you are doing. If you are biking, you probably wouldn't need one. It also depends on your bust size. Some of us with small boobs could get away with more than people with larger ones. But a good test is to jump up and down in front of a mirror a few times. If you are left with a black eye, you probably need one. LOL! Good Luck! > Does anyone know the type of clothing you should wear for working out > I usually wear jogging pants and a T-shirt. What shoes do I need I > just wear regular gym shoes do I need running shoes? Guest guest
Woohoo, time to post LOL Lena, I buy cheap sports bras at Walmart and always one cup size smaller than my regular bra--number stays the same, for instance, and no laughter here LOL I'm baring my soul! My reg bra size is 38C..I buy a sport bra at 38B with no fitted cup. I don't want ANY movement when I am working out lol. The smaller size keeps them babies tucked in nicely and lessens the possibility of giving myself a black eye lol. It looks kinda funny...got the Uni-boob thing going on but at least they don't hurt afterward LOL. I wear capri yoga pants (walmart) that are a bit loose fitting and have a tie at the waist. This may sound weird but I like the feel of the floor fans on my ankles when I workout lol so all my workout pants are capri style. It keeps me cooler. I wear t-shirts that are not too big as I work on alot of machines and I've caught my sleeve a few times with bigger shirts. You don't want tight fitting...just comfy and something you can move in without having it ride up to your boobs when you raise your arms LOL (yes, it happened ONCE LOL). I make sure the shirts fit to my hips before raising my arms now LOL. All clothing is cotton, even undies for breathability. I went to payless and got a nice pair of cross trainers for $15. I bought them a half size larger than my regular size because my feet swell when I workout and the extra room keeps my feet comfy and prevents numbness. My shoes don't fall off because I don't have have to loosen the laces lol. The shoes should be flexible and not pinch anywhere. If you feel any pain at all, keep trying until you find a pair that fit perfectly. ---query for ANYONE--since when did clamdiggers become capri pants?? LOL I gotta get out more! Guest guest
Lena Oh yes you need a sports bra! I couldn't imagine doing my exercise without one. I own about 10 of them!! LOL I would also say a very good invest would be on a really good pair of running shoes or sneakers!! Maybe you could ask around about the shoes. I have a pair of Nike air and I just love them so much. I think everyone has different opinions on them. You have to see whats best on your feet.
