I wish we Americans would convert to the metric system, but it is a losing

battle. Dr. H., however, makes her parents learn how to interpret those

metrics, though. She does not like it when we refer to our kids in terms of

inches, etc. It used to be very hard for me, but now that I have used it

for so many years, it is becoming more natural and easy to understand. I

guess you CAN teach an old dog new tricks. (Are you familiar with that

phrase?)

In the school where I teach, and I believe in most schools now, the kids

learn both methods. I still have not mastered the liquid measures. I guess

that will come with time and experience, too.
