? about feeling flushed flu~ish

I had my TT about 6 months ago, and I am on synthroid 0.137mg. My

last blood work came back good i was at .10 maybe a tad higher i

can't remember exactly, but it was in a good range, and the dr told

me to stay on the amount i was on. I go tomorrow to talk about my

scan...:) I am going to do the Thyrogen. However, i sometimes feel,

hot, sort of flushed..( not cold )

I am only 33, so i doubt i am ready for hot flashes :) LOL, and i am

very tired. I know i am going to be a bit tired because my levels

are supressed, but is there anything i can do about it? Do I have

to live this way? I mean I have two young kids, i am not sure if i

am sooo tired because of lack of sleep and a 4 & 6 year old, or if

it is because my levels are being supresed.... Are you guys still

tired? do you feel achy sometimes?

JoJo (I'm not sure if that's your name, but you didn't sign your post, so I'm

just guessing):

It's not just you...I feel exactly that way too!!! I just had my TT in

February, but I've felt achy, tired and flu-ish ever since, and I'm now of .300

mcg of Synthroid. I called my Endo. today and said, " everything hurts, can

this be because my levels aren't right? " He said " no, that doesn't have to do

with the medication " . Funny, I surely didn't feel this way before the TT...not

until after I started Synthroid.

But then again, he's the same doctor who told me that a week or two after

starting Synthroid that I'd feel GREAT. As a matter of fact, my PC and my ENT

told me that too. I thought it was just me....until I joined this group. They

also keep telling me that if I start exercising I'll feel better. Who can

exercise when they feel like @%!*$@ & !!!

There must be light at the end of the tunnel!

When I am suppressed I feel just like you do. In fact, last year my TSH was at

about .03 and I was " flushing " all of the place. Every time the sun came out,

my face would flush, everytime it got a little warm in my office, I would get

beet red--once my face would flush my eyes would get bloodshot and then I would

get a broken blood vessel in my eye. It was so bad that people were making

jokes about it. I was investigating all the internet sites for rosacea and

carcinoid cancer (which causes severe flushing). I went to a few doctors to

check all of these symptoms (eye doctor, skin doctor, etc.) I was also not

sleeping well, my joints were aching, and I was beginning to have panic attacks.

I could not live like that. So I changed my dosage and all of these symptoms

have all but disappeared. You need to look at your personal risk factors and

balance them against your quality of life. You may not be able to tolerate the

suppression. Sometimes a small, little tweak in your meds can get you back to

the fine line of TSH that you and your doctor can be happy with--like maybe

taking a lower dose of thyroid hormone for one or two days out of the seven days

per week.

Yes - I agree - I have felt flu-ish before. I even have been to the dr.

thinking I was coming down with something and I wasn't. Sounds like your

levels are too low if you are tired like you are - being a mom doesn't help

either! :-)

I'd have your levels re-checked. I was on 150 levoxyl and dropped to 125 and

feel a great deal better. Good luck!

My levels are perfect 0.11 which is good he said, and does not want

me to change my meds :(

A friend of mine has leukemia and her doctor told her to get up and move for

three minutes every hour. It can be three minutes of walking, dancing, up

and down stairs, just moving around the room, what ever. I have found this

advice very helpful during my recovery from my TT a week and a half ago.

Just thought I would pass this bit of advice along. Small amounts

consistently are sometimes easier to do.
