Guest guest
Bart, There isn't anything to forgive - it wouldn't be right for support groups to ignore others' hardships, and of course not everyday is going to be a good one. Everyone of us feels like that at times, and the experiences change every day.We can only wish for the best and take what comes. It could have been anyone of us last Sunday trying to hold on for a bumpy ride. Between life in general and these disorders you have a right to feel overwhelmed. By no means should anyone apologize for that . This is a community more like a family.Because we know from first hand experience what life with motor neuron disorders is like we have a unique understanding and are committed to lift each other up. That's how its suppose to be. When we read your post we took it seriously but we also knew that we did not know enough information. In difficult times we can all say things stronger than we mean them especially in email. We also knew that something significant must be going on in your life and we need to help if we can. I wish I could tell you that your story is unique. Unfortunately this list has many broken dolls. They are broken not because of these disorders but because they have been poorly handled by those who should have loved them most. You can't endure pain that great and not have a lasting scar.I am sure they will read your post and respond to you privately. Once again you will discover you are not alone. I personally believe that God is the ultimate parent and he wants his children to chose him over Satan by their own choosing. The only way that is possible is to give man free will. This free will is a choice between right and wrong and this is why bad things happen to really great people. So here are these beautiful broken dolls who stand defiant. They have suffered the worst of man yet they stand for a God who cries for their pain and rejoices in their praise. You are one of God's precious gifts that fills his heart more than you could ever know. You have an incredible wife who worries about you and shares the difficulties but thinks you are one heck of a catch. What a blessing. You must be an awesome person to have someone who carries such a brilliant torch for you. Now here you are trying to reinvent yourself again and its not easy. Filing bankruptcy is anew fashion trend here in the US we are up to our eyeballs in debt. The lawyer was not that great but its a matter of time and that headache will be gone and you are free to go about your life. Disability is a huge financial hardship. We know all about that, and again, you're not alone.Filing for SSDI you have a whole list to choose from. Its just playing the game the governments way and it will come together. As for the conference how much would it be for you to travel there on the 6th? It would be great for you to attend a conference to see a live in person version of this list. What you take away is priceless. I wish we had a scholarship program but we just are not big enough yet.At 2 years old we are amazed we are this big. Even so we are not without power could you give me a ballpark figure and where they should send the funds? Jimmy just said he would give $200 to get you out of town. Would that help? For now I wish you better days. And I thank you because with all that adversity you are a great example of the human spirit. Guest guest
Bart I have viewed this whole situation from the sidelines so to speak but felt the need to drop you a note. Wasn't it wonderful finding out there are good people attached to these e-mails? I'm envious that you can take meds like Prozac. I cannot take ANY of the SSRIs and must find different ways to pull myself up out of that deep dark hole I can fall into. While I am not Buddhist I have read the Dahlia Lama's Book of Happiness and use many of the mental techniques mentioned to help. I'm not saying that it's a quick fix but just one of many tools. That book sits right beside another Life is an Attitude ( a humorous piece on changing only your mental prospective on little things) OK and if you must know when all else fails that daily face-washing from by Beloved Jack dog works miracles. Guest guest
Bart, This was written from the heart and I am sure most of appreciate the bearing of the soul. We are privileged to have that type of confidence from you. One thing I must say however is that FIGHT that feeling that you got this disease because you are being punished. If you are then we all are and you know first hand the spirit of many on this list. Do you really believe that we are all so damned? If you are being punished for something, then people who get ALS must really have been bad? I don't want to get into a religious argument but if you feel you are being punished it is so much easier to fall into depression and staying there because " you deserve it " . I will leave this thought as an alternative, if God gave you this, instead of punishment God gave it to you to test how you will react. Maybe it's the equivalent of being thrown to the lions? But back to you and your letter. Anyone who can write this is digging their way out of " the pit " . It will be hard, I know I have been there and I'm sure will slip back in now and then. But with the help of family, friends and especially this list I and I know you will make it. Hang in there Bart, we are here and keeping you in our thoughts. dale I REQUEST ALL OF YOUR FORGIVNESS AND HUMBELLY THANK YOU!!! > Ok Ya'll; I guess it is time for some explaining. First of all, Thanks for everyone's concerns of my last written post on Sunday. I really didn't know that you all cared as much for people whom you have never
