very slowly.

Why should I back off 15 mg? ... joan

If you are overstressing the adrenals with your current thyroid dose

and that is what is making you feel terrible, you either need to

back off on thyroid for a while to give them a break or you need to

add some adrenal support. In adrenal fatigue you have to make

thyroid raises in very small increments and wait a long time between

raises. Low adrenal symptoms are similar to hyperthyroid symptoms,

but it just saps the energy from you, causes muscle wasting,

inflammation and just generally makes you not have the ability to

handle anything or do anything. It's miserable. So, though your dose

is not high enough, you can't get it there quickly if you don't have

enough adrenal cortisol. Without enough cortisol, you can't use

thyroid. It just stays in the blood and can't get into tissues. It's

like whipping a dead horse. You have to bring the adrenals up with

the thyroid and the adrenals take a long time to build back up.

This is the question I answered. You said " I have never felt worse " , so I'm

simply suggesting that maybe your raises were too fast, and the T4 is just

now coming into being. Could be too fast and uncomfortable because of your

adrenals. Rather than going up, you could back off 15 mgs for a few wks,

THEN try going up 15 mgs 4 to 6 wks from then. Your adrenals may not be

able to handle steady increases, right away.
