Well, I guess Rita showed up during the night. I was very soundly sleeping. Had planed to bunker down in the hall to stay way from windows, but decided to go to bed, under a 72"x36" window with another the same size beside. I figured I would wake up if it started getting bad. Well, it never got bad and I never woke up. It is still windy. The dog and I went out a little bit ago. I had to drag her off the porch, but once she got out there she didn't want to come in. There is no water standing in my front yard which is unusual as a good rain usually makes areas of my large front yard look like lakes. All the pine and oak trees around the house are still standing. Later I am going out to the pasture to see about the cows.

There is much more rain on the way. I need to walk down to the creek to see how high it is. Guess it doesn't matter though as I couldn't stop it if it comes out of it's banks. I told my son I would blame him is it does. He works for the county drainage department. My daughter-in-law that went to Oklahoma called this morning but I havent' heard from the others yet. May still lose electricity, but I'll stay in touch as long as I can. __________________________________________________

Thanks, Helon. Actually, I am in the area where Rita was supposed to hit, then in the last hours it turned north east. Galveston still got a lot of dammage but it will survive.

Has anyone heard from Randi. Beaumont and Lake took a hard hit and she lives between the two. I know she is with her brother and probably can't get back into Orange yet.

All my kid checked in. The son that stayed here is without electricity. He is in my daughter's new house and she should be home soon with his son and all her children. They all will be coming back today or tomorrow I'm sure. The two son's that left town are both need here because of their jobs. They both got passes to get back into the area if we had been hit hard and no one was going to be let back in right away.

Thanks to all of you for your concern.

I'm so relived that you made it through the storm without even knowing that it

had hit. Just exactly where are you located. I know that you are in the region

that was hit, just not sure where.

Stay safe cause we need you here on the loop.

Deanna, I just saw on TV where they are getting one of the refineries in Port Arthur started back up right now. I saw smoke coming from the smokestacks.

They are bringing a few tankers of gas in, but they all stop in Houston. None of them get this far. I have enough gas to get to work a couple of days. If I can't find any tomorrow I may have to miss my TOPS meeting on Monday night.

Good luck with the job hunt, . Your apartment must be only about 20 minutes from me. I think I remember you saying it is in the Astrodome area? If so, maybe I can finally get you to one of our meetings. You may remember I tried several years ago, but it was just so far and your work schedule made it impossible.

We do meet in Friendswood, though, a little farther than where I live.

I love the wind too ! I don't care for 50 mph wind like Friday night but I

do enjoy a nice breeze! I like to sit on my patio and watch the trees blow. It's

too hot now but when it cools of I look forward to sitting out there and reading

a book and just enjoying the wind. It's a beautiful, windy, sunny day here in

Houston with not a cloud in the sky. It's very hot, that stinks, and it's hard

to imagine that just 24 hours ago it was VERY windy and VERY rainy. I'm back at

work and trying to get back in the swing of things. I was off 10 days so it was

hard to come back but unless I decide to work overtime in just 3.5 more days I'm

off for 7 again! LOL!

Wish me luck guys....I applied for a job closer to home. I so hope they call and

I get hired. It's at Kelsey-Seybold and it's less than 1/4 mile from my

apartment. I can see the building from my apartment. It would be great to work

that close to home and I would save a ton on gas for sure! I enjoy this job but

it's too boring for me. Half the time there is nothing to do. I don't like that.

I want a job where I actually work. And, after the grief they gave me for

wanting to stay close to home during a hurricane, I pushed up my " finding a job

closer to home " schedule.

Have a great week. KOPS LOVE, :)

Thanks, Beth and Vernie. We are having a beautiful sunshiney day here. It's

I have 7 days off (unless I find another job soon) so we will have to " make a

I don't really know. It is a hospital/clinic of some type and I applied for

patient registrar/administrative assistant in the radiology department. Sounds

interesting but I am mostly happy because it's right around my apartment IF I

get it of course!
