BreastCancerStories.Com Launches Online Community to Help Patients

and Loved Ones Communicate During a Difficult Time

Website Helps Those Touched by Breast Cancer to Write, Read, and

Share Their Stories with Family, Friends and One Another

PORTSMOUTH, NH (June 1, 2006)—BreastCancerStories.com today announced

the launch of its website intended to help those going through breast

cancer to communicate with loved ones and with one another while they

are going through treatment. Breast cancer patients are provided

with their own unique web address where they can write and upload

diary entries and photos whenever they feel the need to write.

Friends and family members can visit their loved one's website

whenever they want, follow their story, and leave messages of

support. Newly diagnosed breast cancer patients can search through

an index of stories based on age, location, type of cancer and type

of treatment, find someone similar to them, and follow their story,

helping them to not feel quite so alone.

BreastCancerStories.com was developed to further enhance the support

systems that are already in place today. Being available 24 hours a

day allows breast cancer patients and their loved ones to write and

read anytime of the day or night. Newly diagnosed women and men

also benefit from the website as they are able to read the stories of

others going through a similar diagnosis and understand that they are

not alone in their fight.

" BreastCancerStories.com is the mechanism that brings both patient

and loved one together enabling them to communicate and stay in touch

via the Internet, at their own pace, when it's comfortable for them, "

says McCoole, Executive Director. " It can be difficult knowing

what to say or how often and by creating a place for breast cancer

patients to write about their experiences and share their thoughts

with friends and family members, as well as with newly diagnosed

breast cancer patients, is such an incredible support resource. "

" BreastCancerStories.com benefits anyone who is touched by breast

cancer - either directly or indirectly, " says Sue Gosselin, MSN, RN,

OCN, Director of the Hematology and Oncology Center at Portsmouth

Regional Hospital. " Providing patients, family members, friends and

even clinicians with the ability to read what others are going

through will help to bridge that gap of uncertainty. "

The website was conceived by Ms. McCoole early in 2005. Shortly

after she was diagnosed with breast cancer she started on online

diary to keep family and friends updated as she progressed through

her treatments. The website was passed on and read by many hundreds

of people, at which time she decided to create a similar site so

others could share their stories as well.

The website was developed by Integrated Development Corporation, a

Greenland, NH-based company whose content-management technology

enables BreastCancerStories.com and the story writers to update their

own website content. In addition, Portsmouth, NH-based NE Video

Productions is donating their time to develop a video that will be

sent to hospitals and cancer centers to make them aware of the

website and the benefits that it provides. A ribbon cutting ceremony

is scheduled for June 28th at the Redhook Brewery in Portsmouth, NH.
