Guest guest
I had this problem when still chronically hypo all those yrs. Since I wear my hair short, it took about 4 or 5 cuttings to cut away all the old, plus what was growing out and hadn't gone into repair mode yet. I had that for yrs, and only in the past 6 months is it changed to " normal " hair. I did like the body that my hair used to have, but I'm attributing some of this to female hormones that may not be there any more. The hair is not nearly as thick, curly and wiry as it was when first hypo. Later on it got that dull dry cotton candy look. I now do not use hair conditioners at all. I used to take several courses of antibiotic a yr, though, and haven't done that for a few yrs either. tangled glumpy hair > > Hi guys, > > Any of you have a problem with tangly, stuck, glumpy, coated, straw-like hair since being on Armour or hc? This is a new issues for both hubby and I. I can hardly pass the brush through my hair even when perfectly clean. It is coated with something. Coats the bristles too with a fine fine white something. Changing shampoos doesn't help. Our hair salon friend said that certain medications can cause this to happen, as well as changes in what the town adds to the water....but she has not noticed a run of issues from other town residents. She gave me a chelating shampoo to try. > > Roxanna > > North Star German Shepherd Dog Rescue Inc > northstargsdr@... > www.northstargsdr.org
Guest guest
No, city water. We once lived in a place with well water that was chock full of iron and God knows what other minerals. My hair would get glumpy like this. So every month I would have to go to my MILs house in another town to wash my hair and get the crap off it. We have lived here over 10 years and I have never had this happen as long as I switch shampoos here and there. I am suspicious of what they are putting in the water, but no other town people are complaining, except for hubby. I tried a new shampoo last night, twice. We'll see what happens this morning when I try to brush it out. If that doesn't work I will try the chelating shampoo. Cindi, I am sure you appreciate how 30 " of glumpy, tangly, straw-like hair could be annoying. :-( even tho you don't have it. I can't even brush it well to put it in a braid. Guest guest
Everything is from the inside out. The changes that take place in the hair shaft were on their way before that particular hair ever grew out. Hair is dead keritin, and once it's there, it's there until it's cut off again. The new hair growth is what tells the story. That's why it took so many hair growths for mine to change. BTW, I've been on irony well water for the last two yrs, so I don't see how this comes into play, unless there are some bad things in the water. This is where I was when my hair began to improve (with better thyroid treatment), but it takes the ongoing chemical changes in the body (slowly) and several hair growths for this to happen. Re: tangled glumpy hair > With me it is all my hair....all 30 " is suddenly glumpy. Started about a month ago and is getting worse. > > I don't really see how meds could affect the hair grown before meds....but thought I would investigate all possibilities. > > Roxanna
