Guest guest
I had my surgery/chemo over 16 yrs ago at age 44 so I was too young to start having memory problems. I can tell you what I did as a child but don't ask me any short term questions. We can be driving somewhere and I will say to my husband, why are we going a different way? It turns out we have gone that way many times! But you learn to live it with. Things could be worse. Not sure if it's all due to chemo brain! At 58, one expects to have a bit of a memory problem, right? LOL But, it really freaks me out when I put something down, and 10 seconds later (no exaggeration!)I can't find it. I turn in circles searching, and most times it's right in front of me. " It " can be anything from a cup of coffee, house keys, eyeglasses, books, etc. Words sometimes escape me, too. I can be in the middle of a conversation, and I'll have a problem remembering a word. I finished chemo at the end of October 2005, and radiation was finished at the end of December 2005. Wow...I did have to think a moment, but I'm proud that I got the dates right (believe it or not, I never remember most of the dates...ask me when I had my surgeries and I usually draw a blank). I also think that I'm forgetting things due to stress and depression. Well...whatever the reason(s), it's very disconcerting to someone who used to pride herself in being quick and on the ball! Sorry for being so very long-winded here! Basically, I'd love some feedback in order to know if a lot of other people have had (or are having) similar experience. Truth is, this is only one of my questions. I have been experiencing much fatigue and bone pain since treatment ended. I have very little energy most of the time and as I posted a few days ago, terrible pain in both hands, wrists, arms and feet. My balance is not so terrific, either. I have been diagnosed with other medical problems recently, and I believe they have occured as side effects from treatmen...but, that will be for another post...my hands can't tolerate all this typing.
