What's a Port ?????

I had a port put in about 3 weeks after my double. It was out-patient,

w/anesthesia - don't remember a thing. You're sort at the port site for a

couple

of days, but in the " grand " scheme of everything, it really wasn't so bad.

Is it the same as the balloon that's inserted for radiation delivery?

I think that's called " Mammosite Radiation " . My lumpectomy's next

Monday afternoon...ugh. They are putting a wire of some sort so the

surgeon can find the lump. That sounds worse than the surgery to me.

Shari,

A port is inserted under the skin and they are able to draw blood and also use

it for the chemo. This way you do not need to be stuck everytime you get chemo.

Especially good if your veins are hard to find.
