Hi Margery, are you? yes the knitting bee here has been busy preparing all manner of headgear for my pending bald times. I have long hair so we're all getting as ready as possible for you know, a shock. Do you think you will knit a breast? I have seen these, they can get pretty elegant. Guest guest Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Hi, e - I used to knit a lot, but not so much now I'm doing patchwork and quilting. I taught both my daughters to knit when they were children, and the older one (32 now) is getting back into it - getting a lot of enjoyment. I might knit a breast, but my idea is more fun than elegant - I thought of a little face peeping over the top of my bra ... <G> A friend knitted me a chemo cap in bright pink - if you look in this group's photos section, under Margery's pictures, you'll see it there. http://www.headhuggers.org/patterns/kpatt10.htm and http://www.berroco.com/exclusives/chemo_cap-scarf.html have patterns for the chemo caps. Yes, losing your hair will be a big change when you've had long hair. But it will come back (look at my pictures) and anyway if that's what it takes to beat this nasty cancer then that's what we will put up with. We can beat it - it's just that the process is not what you'd call fun ... we must make what fun we can <G>. Hugs, Margery. ============================================ margery@... in North Herts, UK ============================================ > Re: Is anyone out there a knitter? > > I'm a knitter I'm a knitter! Guest guest Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 Darn! (pun intended) I only crochet, and then only occasionally. Sure glad we do NOT have an internet filter. ;-) -Frances Quoting reikiandthenreiki : > I'm a knitter I'm a knitter! Guest guest Posted September 8, 2006 Report Posted September 8, 2006 one of my dear pals came up with a lovely crocheted breast 'totem' during my biopsy time. she added picotee around the base and glass and pewter hearts inside and out. it isn't the sort one would necessarily wear but close to it. it's really a beautiful thing. anyway it proudly sits on the dashboard of my car. it looks exactly like what it is, if you know. if you don't, it looks like a little nepalese cap. and i am frequently complimented on the temple in my car. everyone who knows of course, calls it the temple of the healthy boobies. so you could say you are knitting temples! i will try to post a photo sometime. the friend btw, is making another one for a prize at a Curves observance of BC month coming up. oh the knitting bee! does help take the mind off all this yuck. tired but sincere hugs all around e > > Margery - thanks for the smile I am a knitter, and knit for a > non-profit yarn shop in town (I have for the last 2 years) I can't > imagine trying to explain what " those pink balls are " if someone > asked me what I was working on. hmmmmmmmmm Smiles! > > Ellen Quote
