Guest guest
<< Any post-ops want to share their thoughts? >> This is based upon previous major surgery a year ago...not Dr. R's procedure. Take this with a grain of salt. The hospital gowns were more convenient for dealing with the ever-present tripod. The reason is that they have snaps at the shoulder which allow easier access. If you have nighties that you can alter by putting snaps or velcro at the shoulder...go for it! Besides...we'll only be holding the tripod races for two days...so maybe we won't care whether we have our own nighties or the hospital gowns! The hospital gowns are, after all, such a fashion statement. Drafts are preventable by putting one on " backwards " like a duster and tying it at the front. Let's live dangerously! Dee in MI. Could this SCD business be pronounced 'SCUD' and would that mean that we'll all be SCUD MUFFINS for wearing them? Just thought I'd check that out... Dee in MI. Guest guest
Hey ! Wear the hospital gowns...you want to be comfortable and not have anything binding around your waist at all. Remember, you'll have the IV in your arm, TED hose and SCD's on your legs. Bring toiletries plus a robe and slippers for cruising the halls in style. Don't bring alot of " crap " to the hospital because the stay is so short it just isn't worth it. Of course, I brought a book (which now, 2 months later I'm reading) plus crosswords, and hardly looked at them. Also remember to bring whatever you'll want to wear home. See Ya! Darn, woman!...I think I'll have to take my sister's tiara out of her glass box while she's sleeping and give it to you! Guest guest
Dee and Karin, etc: The scud things are cute, but I got booties (not full leg ones) that slipped on and off so I could walk easily (I was a bit of a marathoner)..the nurses who had me still laugh because when I got back from my walks, I had to call them to help me get the inflata-shoes back on (no stomach bending, etc..was the best idea)...So once I got back in bed and all settled, I'd hit the call button, they'd come on and say, " what's up? " and all I had to say were just 2 words and they knew what I meant.... " BOOTY CALL " . let's say they had quite an amusing time with that! Guest guest
: When I got my spinal operation I was in so much pain that I refuse to be pinch one more time... No injections... (the blood thinning meds...). So, I had to walk a lot and use the SCD stockings all night. I asked the nurses to give me two gowns... one opened to the back, the other to the front! (Flashing the others in the hospital is not too cool!). I was up and walking at 5:00 am... My two cents... Sophia
