Subject: Re: MRI bill

Costs for an MRI here is $650 for each of head, cervical spine, thoracic

spine or lumber spine if gone through the medical system, which covers the

costs, For workers comp cases its $750 if you set it up yourself at the

private clinic in Calgary. The cost for each of the same areas in

Minneapolis is $1,200 US last year.

Yea, both systems are marginal but when you don't pay you can't complain.

Actually, we do complain a lot cause our taxes are high and there is a lot

of waste in the system. But.... hard to say if there is more waste here or

in the US?? Here the government rips you off through incompedence, in the US

it is the insurance companies. Hard to get good help these days!

For you Americans who don't want to pay for MRI's, come to Canada. Just

claim you are a refugee. No one will ever ask you about any pre-existing

conditions and you will get a health card on the spot!

Well - if you want to live in OZ - don't use the " refugee " word ---- BAD

BAD word here..

Boatloads where coming till the last federal election - now the navy tows

them to other Island nations to be processed. Some have been from India -

Pakistan - Iraq - Iran making out they were Afghanistan refugees... BIG BIG

STINK ...

I've never really had a problem with my MRIs. I have one every year. If you

miss it, they may take a long time to re-schedule it. I've never had this

happen so far. I've read bad stories in the papers. Some are true but I

suspect some are exagerated by the medical community because they want more

funding. Overall, I think our medical system is pretty good.

Don't forget I am in Toronto which has a lot of hospitals and some very

specalized ones. Smaller towns in Canada will have more problems.

It's still OK to be a refugee in Canada. The Yanks can claim they are being

abused by a medical system that wants their arm for having a simple MRI. I'm

pretty sure if you try this, you'll be granted asylum in Canada and receive

a lifetime of free MRIs.
