Guest guest
> I usually support what you say, Duncan, but indicating that > " autoimmune disorders can be stopped with nutritional protocols " is > incorrect and is a very irresponsible and damaging thing to say. Knowing what we do about what the nutritional protocols can accomplish, it would be irresponsible to not mention it periodically, particularly whn nutritional protocold are good for you and not damaging at all. > There is some evidence that autoimmune disorders can be helped with > nutritional protocols, but there is absolutely no SUBSTANTIATED > evidence of any that have been stopped or cured with nutritional > protocols. First, let's not forget that only about 15% of medicine has been (or could be) substantiated, according to an article in a peer-reviewed journal, I think it was the Journal of the American Medical Association. I agree that there is similarly little published research to support the notion that autoimmune disorders can be arrested, but that's a whole lot different from what is being substantiated in the field. I was first introduced to stopping an autoimmune disorder by couple of the trauma nurses at Chemainus Hospital. I'm glad I didn't prejudge their approach; instead, I investigated further and found that their protocol had indeed produced recovery in rheumatoid arthritis patients. I don't have access to their files but I talked to a couple of the patients and they substantiated it verbally. I have a client who was properly diagnosed with inclusion body myositis after a few months of doctors and specialists visits and biopsies. I followed an improved but similar protocol and the client, who should have withered and died of this horrible, incurable progressive deterioration almost three years ago, is gaining, and of course his doctor is amazed at his recovery. Because the incurable disorder is named for its symptoms and he no longer has the symptoms, it has ben stopped. It is in no way dangerous, incorrect or irresponsible to relay this information. However, if we limited ourselves to what has been SUBSTANTIATED by peer review, we, like the doctor, would have been limited to inaction and our best case would have been that this fellow would be dead today. I think the clients are happy enough that the only substantiated cases of autoimmune disorders being stopped are their own. > People in the alternative medicine/supplement/herbalism field love to > take shots at conventional medicine, but one thing we do see from > formally educated and licensed practitioners is responsibility to the > truth. You don't hear licensed health practitioners promising a cure > from any medicine or treatment, because there is no way to guarantee > what the human body will do with any one treatment. Everyone's truth is a product of their frame of reference. About 80% of the best medical research has never made it into the medical textbooks, so the frame of reference for doing som things just doesn't exist for doctors who rely solely on their medical training, again, only 15% of which is substantiated. Perhaps not every autoimmune disorder can be stopped but in fact we've had five out of five successes between us, and there are many more examples that one can uncover. See for example the ALS protocol on the Life Extension Foundation website. Believing that there might be something to it, I used a similar protocol to halt and partially reverse the progress of the neurodgenerative disorders Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's Disease in four clients. Let me explain something for you. When I found out from anti-aging specialists, who also take money for a living (as doctors do), that people with diabetes type II respond " particularly " well to certain nutritional protocols, I got interested because more than a half- dozen of my clients have type II. I joined the group to find out if the rest of the world has kept abreast of biological innovation and although I found out indeed some people do, most do not. By doing nothing when something can be accomplished, they fail to reduce a reducable burden on the rest of society/medical plan. A post like that I have no problem with. In fact, as I > have hypogammglobulinemia (say that in one try if you can:-) I'll > check out all those urls. > > Cheers, Alan > You're welcome, Alan. I should have said that several of those are random examples of the kind of research that tends to get done on herbal medicine. There were lots more like that; and the impression one tends to be left with is, if an herb is shown in clinical studies to help with immune response in five or ten very different illnesses, chances are there's a reason it's earned its reputation as an immune enhancer. A bit more about astragalus: several years ago, I had had, by New Year's Day, two ear infections (one external and one middle), two sinus infections (or one that had never cleared) and strep throat. I finally took a friend's advice and bought astragalus tincture. I wasn't sick again that winter, though influenzas and other viral illnesses raged through the office I worked in, and I've rarely had a cold since. I really believe it works for me. I take a dropperful of tincture daily. If you can't or won't use tinctures, which are based in alcohol, you can use HerbPharm or Gaia glycerites, which are extracted in alcohol, which is then evaporated off and glycerine added. (Other brands extract it in glycerine, which doesn't work nearly as well as alcohol.) May
