Guest guest
Rhonda, can you please post the ranges from your lab with the test results? Are you still having a period? Guest guest
I sure can. Free T4 - 0.61 - 1.76 (my results- 1.15) TSH- 0.350 - 5.500 (my results- 1.268) Estrodiol- 0 - 31 (my results- 66) Progesterone- 0.0 - 0.7 (my results- 0.9) FSH- 23.0 - 116.3 (my results-3.8) I was diagnosed as having high cholesterol total was 280, and was also found to be borderline diabetic. I didn't have my testosterone tested, I wish now I would have, because I do know that excess testosterone can cause hair loss as well as acne. I've been using natural progesterone cream for over a year now and it has totally changed my life. I had a hysterectomy in 1997, so no I don't have periods. Nor do I have the hot/cold feelings or flu like symptoms. Actually, I feel great all around, it's just these three symptoms that bother me. (hair loss, acne, and afternoon crashing fatigue) Rhonda ****************** > > Rhonda, can you please post the ranges from your lab with the test results? > Are you still having a period? Guest guest
There is not everything here to look at but remembering what I was told, it appears that your testosterone and dhea might be elevated because your estrogen levels are too low. That is a guess from what I see. I would like to have had them run a growth hormone, tpo, and b testing, folic 12 and I think it is 6. The acne is a good indicator of the dhea or testosterone, but it is a guess. However, when I started with Hashi. I was on a high because my thyroid was working better than ever, but I was losing hair like crazy. At that point my testosterone was also high. I now use it. Go figure! LOL > >Reply-To: NaturalThyroidHormones >To: NaturalThyroidHormones >Subject: Re: Questions/Janie >Date: Sun, 29 Aug 2004 23:57:01 -0000 >
Guest guest
revision, your estrogen is not shown but the estrodiol is elevated and I just saw that. Estrogen should be about 75, so I looked too quick. > >Reply-To: NaturalThyroidHormones >To: NaturalThyroidHormones >Subject: Re: Questions/Janie >Date: Sun, 29 Aug 2004 23:57:01 -0000 >
Guest guest
Would it help if I e-mailed you all of my test results? They are so confusing to me. They are in .pdf format and there's 7 pages. The results that you may be looking for, just might be on there, I just don't know how to read the dumb thing. LOL If my testosterone is elevated, I wonder if I'm using too much progesterone cream, because progesterone is a precursor to testosterone. Isn't the DHEA the hormone that makes you yonger that you really are? No wonder I look and act so inmature! Guest guest
Hi Rhonda!! Glad to see that you've already gotten some good responses. This group is filled with great folks, and knowledgeable, too. We've had to become our own best advocates and researchers since the majority of docs out there are ignorant about thyroid. Unfortunately, you have another bad doc in that area. It does look like you may have testosterone too high. Yet, most of your symptoms are also low thyroid! Don't worry about adrenals yet. Your doc is nutty about the free T3. Insurance does cover it, and why would she care anyway?? It's your body. It would help greatly for you to get that done. Your free T4 suggests the possibility of a low free T3. And it's the free T3 that is telling, not the tsh or the free T4. She's not a great doc in this area. And bottom line, you can always try Armour and see what it does for you. We live in a lab-obsessed society now, but there was a day when folks were diagnosed SOLELY on symptoms...and successfully. Armour was the med of choice, as well. The creation of Synthroid and other T4 meds has a history similar to the creation of HRT--both faulty and both based on money in the pocket. Guest guest
Rhonda, also get your Ferritin tested. MANY of us have found ours to be quite low, and that can cause symptoms similar to hypo....including hair loss. Janie > Hi Rhonda!! Glad to see that you've already gotten some good > responses. Guest guest
Janie, If my testosterone is too high, what do I do to lower it? But then again, I'm not sure I want it lowered TOO much, my husband is enjoying this new found sex drive in his woman! LOL Rhonda > > It does look like you may have testosterone too high. Guest guest
You are very high on estrogen to have had a total hysterectomy. But it goes to show that we really don't lose that much estrogen at that time. I'm thinking you may need even more of the progesterone, with that kind of estrogen reading. The form of testosterone that causes hair loss is where it is converted to the bad form at the hair follicles. That's why many men get male pattern baldness because of this transition of one type of testosterone to another form, not simply because they have more testosterone. The good kind is the one that actually initiates hair growth, and, on us, the secondary characteristics, like our eyebrows, hair on our head, eyelashes, hair on the legs, etc....Follicle Stimulating Hormone is also very low, which I would guess, means you have not even one ovary, for one thing? Or that ovary has ceased to function. I think you were right originally, too, that you probably need the testosterone tested also. Guest guest
Progesterone is a precursor to ALL of them. It is turned into whatever is needed, as far as the sex hormones, both male and female, and helps along the cortisol formation. It's wonderful. It looks more to me like not enough progesterone to balance out that horrendous estradiol. Re: Questions/Janie > Would it help if I e-mailed you all of my test results? They are so > confusing to me.
