jUST hang in there...I am a 4 yr. survivor of Stage 111 and was working at the

time...and lost my mom suddenly only 4 months after I found out I had

Cancer...but it was hard going on but I did...I would take a week off work when

doing chemo...i had my chemo on Monday afternoons...I was trying to take care of

myself by resting and taking a week off work... Worked in a Community College

taking Tuition Payments..People at work did not understand and were mad at

me...telling me I was making other work harder because I was taking off work for

chemo...They wanted to have chemo on Monday afternoon and be fresh and aleart

the next day Tuesday for work... but I took off the week to rest.. Retired in

2004 and moved from Delaware to North Carolina...Never had children but it would

be hard to work have chemo and raise a child...I went through 8 treatments of

chemo and 33 weeks of radiation back in 2002-2003.. and was living alone at the

time...Have boyfriend since Dec 2002 .I still

get depressed everyday and miss my mom...Just had a D & C end of June and am

ok...and just had work done on my teeth yesterday...It is hard for me to go on

with just my boyfriend...dont have many friends...

Just hang in there and rest when you can...If you need to talk I have my

computer on most of the day...

Betsy (North Carolina)

Hi ,

Wondering what kind of work you do outside the home? Gee, I wonder why you're

so tired.....You've had surgery (and recon is no picnic), you work, you chase a

2 1/2 year old around, I assume you do laundry, cook, clean....and you complain

that you're tired?????????? It's a surprise you're able to function at

all!!!!!!!!!!!

Instead of feeling bad when you can't go in to work, you should be

congratulating yourself for every single thing you are doing. I think you're

phenomenal.

Here's what I did during treatment:

Laid on couch, watched TV.

Husband took me to all dr appts, etc.

Husband cooked 90% of time.

16 year old daughter learned where we kept the washer and dryer.

Laid outside on the hammock.

Napped on couch.

Napped on hammock.

Went to bed early each night.

Felt completely exhausted at all times.

Took antidepressants to deal with anxiety & depression.

When it was over I felt like a champion! I got through chemo/surgery/ & rads.

In otherwords, , your schedule is overwhelming.

Please, take a break - and consider antidepressants, also, anyone nearby who

can pitch in to help you?

, I am truly amazed that you are still working and running

after your son. You should be so proud of yourself!! I could not do

anything close to what you are doing. I was going to school when I

was diagnosed, and I took a leave of absence because I just couldn't

handle chemo and school. I am always amazed by what others can do

while they are getting treatment. You need to not be so hard on

yourself. I know that I found that if I told other people what I

needed, they were happy to help me and glad they could do something

concreate to help.

,

I will also tell you that it take a strong women to get out of bed

and deal with children and life, aside from dealing with your own

emotions and illness. I am 35 and I have 6 children and I had a

mastectamy on my right side only. Still waiting to find out if I

need chemo. So yes I think it is important to deal with everything

in your life. But we also need some time to heal once in a while so

don't feel so bad about yourself. If ever you want someone to sound

of on let me know.....

Good luck ladies
