Guest guest
Hi , I did Cellcept at 1000 mg twice a day for several months in 2004. I really struggled with nausea until suggested I take the Cellcept with meals and then the nausea was much better. Do you take yours with food? I can't recall how long you have been on the Cellcept, but my Neph said you should start seeing results within a few months if it is going to work. Unfortunately it did not for me, but it has been great for Rita. I really hope it works for you too . In a message dated 1/15/2005 2:08:00 P.M. My latest labs showed my creatinine at 2.1 (up from 1.9) and my protein in my 24 hr at about 3300 (up from 1700). I was just wondering what doses of cellcept those of you that are on it are? My BP and cholesteral are really stable...(Avapro and lipitor) The only thing we are working on is the protein and creatinine. I had a bad month last month too...Thanksgiving and then Christmas....I ate a lot of bad (good) stuff. Back on me diet now. Also as I have said before.....My only complaint is the nausea. It comes in waves..I will go 2 weeks with none and the every morning I have to get sick. Is that common? I am trying to see if what I eat the night before might have something to do with it.... Thanks,
Guest guest
, Thanks for the response. I have been on CellCept since late Oct. or I guess Nov. My Nov labs showed creatinine of 2.2 with a protein of 1701 mg/24hr . My Dec labs showed a creatinine of 1.9 and protein of 2786 mg/24hr. Now, my newest Jan labs are creatinine of 2.1 with protein of 3319 mg/24hr. It seems to be creeping back up a little. Is this common? or does it show the CellCept isn't going to work for me? I have started taking it with food, and it has helped some...I nibble all day to ease the nausea, but I can't nibble in my sleep and I wake up miserable. Then I will be fine for a few weeks with no nausea at all. Unfortunately, I am one of those people that want immediate results. I have just gotten the approval from the FAA to start flying again...I don't want to be grounded again since it is my paycheck..
Guest guest
Thanks Rita.... I know I have to be patient and let it happen...I hate being patient...HAHA I hope your eye gets better soon..... I have read numerous posts referring to uremia...Can I ask what that is? I might have missed something, but that is new to me. Thanks ,
Guest guest
Hi , I completely understand your wanting to start flying again. Congratulation on getting your FAA clearance! I am not a doctor, so I don't know in your particular case how long it should take to start seeing results. For me, I was already at about 20% function before I tried it so most likely it was just too late for me. Your creatinine is within the labs margin of error, although I know it is always disturbing to see any upward trend on creatinine. Your protein levels though do not seem to be going down, which would be the goal. What is your Neph saying? Did they give you any indication on how long you should be on it? I just hope you do respond positively to it . In a message dated 1/15/2005 4:10:56 P.M. Guest guest
When your kidneys begin to lose their ability to remove waste from the blood, the waste builds up in your blood and this is caused uremia. It is one of the causes for nausea when you reach advanced renal disease, usually around 15-20% or below. In a message dated 1/15/2005 4:20:57 P.M. Guest guest
Hi , 's just like you - 1000 mg twice a day. I'm sorry to hear about the creatinine bump. I know it's within the range of lab error, but it sure feels better when the range goes the other way. It must feel spooky crossing that 2.0 threshold. The nausea can go with uremia. Can you please refresh my memory as to whether you have spoken to your neph about it? There's a bunch of great drugs (i.e. compazine) for nausea relief, but I don't know if they are OK for renal patients. I hope you get some relief on this front. Guest guest
I would ask your neph. about Myfortic (enteric coated Cellcept). It's digested further south and therefore doesn't cause so much nausea. Betsy > , > Thanks for the response. I have been on CellCept since late Oct. or > I guess > Nov. Guest guest
Uremia literally means " urine in the blood " , but it's generally just a word that means symptoms of renal failure. If you look at the Chronic Renal Failure section of www.igan.ca , you will see a list of symptoms. Those are all uremic symptoms, or, symptoms of uremia.
