You sound JUST like me. When I had gotten up to 2 grains over 1 1/2

years ago, and would try to go up to 2 1/4 grains, I kept getting

hyper symptoms---for me that was major palps. I surmised that 2

grains was my optimal dose. (I was wrong.)

Soon afterwards, I had a longer than normal period, and got achy. I

then had my Ferritin tested---WOW it was low. I corrected it, which

at the time was only getting it up to 48, but that was better. And

voila!! I was able to raise my Armour with NO problems. I am now at

3 1/4 grains.

Late last year, I got slack on my iron, and my Ferritin fell to

around 38--back came my achies. SO now I stay on iron, and try to

keep my Ferritin in the 60's.

You may not still feel right because it can take several weeks to

correct low Ferritin....I had to take two 325 mg. tablets a day,

sometimes three, to get it up. And it took many weeks. Also, you may

not yet be at your optimal Armour dose...

Your supplements look great as well as when you are taking them. The

only ones that interfere are the iron and calcium, which you are

taking at night anyway. I take mine during breakfast, and then do my

Armour sublingually.

Yes, that's what I was thinking - that 2 grains is all I need tho

it's a small dose. Ok, so again I have to be patient : (

Have you ever taken too much iron? If so, how did you know?

You mean the iron and calcium shouldn't be taken together because

they interfere with each other or something else? What is it that

you take during breakfast - the iron?

Thank you -

Yes, patience is important, unfortunately! Because 2 grains may not

be all you need, but you will have to wait to correct other issues.

DARN!! But take heart--you WILL get there.

Remarkably, the amount of iron I take would make most folks WAYYY

overloaded with iron. But..for me, I have to take it just to keep my

Ferritin optimal. Weird. But I do plan on testing my iron yearly.

because I would not know if my iron got too high.

No. Iron and calcium interfere with the thyroid absorption. But even

if you did take the iron and/or calcium with your thyroid meds, all

you would need to do is increase your Armour to compensate. And the

problem is lessened, we think, when you do your Armour sublingually.

They are not mixing in your stomach.

Janie, have you checked yourself for occult bleeding...say from the GI tract? It

seems odd that you loose so much iron. ( have to keep replacing so much )

HI, ,

Best I remember about l-tyrosine, I believe you are supposed to take it

first thing in the morning before food. Have you tried melatonin for

sleep? Ask your doctor about it. I'd suggest starting at a low dosage

and use the lowest that works. Don't go higher than 3 mg. or mcg.

whichever way it comes. I can't remember.

I hope you'll be feeling better soon!

Hi

After reading several posts regarding supplements I'm trying a few

to see if they help me (hypothyroidism). But I understand WHEN you

take these supplements is also very important - something that is

never on the label. I take all supplements after a meal. I think

I'm taking the right amounts, if not could someone advise? Last

week had several really bad episodes of hyper symptoms so I started

taking ferrous sulfate. Had blood tests last week but results won't

be back for another week - the ferritin test is one of them (at my

request not dr) due to heavy menstruation for last 20 years. I'm

sure it's low but can't wait for tests due to hyper symptoms. Since

taking FS haven't had hyper symptoms but still not feeling right.

It may just be I have give it more time. Supposed to take 2.5

grains but have only been able to do the 2 - that xtra half still

makes me a bit hyper. Been on Armour since mid July. I'm wondering

if my adrenals need help too.

selenium - 100 mcg mid/late morning

B complex - mid/late morning

Magnesium - 400 mg - early/mid afternoon for sleep

DHEA - 10 mg - mid/late morning

CoQ10 - 120 mg - not sure when to take

L Tyrosine - 500 mg - not sure when to take

B12 sublingual liquid - dropper of 1 ml - mid/late am

Calcium - 1 gram for sleep taken before bed

Niacin - 100 mg for sleep taken before bed

Ferrous sulfate - 325 mg before bed with 600 mg vitamin C

Trying to wean myself off of Ambien and OTC gel caps of

Diphenhydramine (taken on alternate nights) since I'm starting to

have scary memory problems from Ambien and the gel caps give me a

hangover. Bought some 5 HTP but because I take generic Paxil

(antidepressant) I understand I can't take that.

Thank you
