Hi Deb,

Welcome to the email list! I'm sorry you have reason to be here, but very

glad you found us. What a shock it must have been to be diagnosed with 25%

function! Many of us have the dubious luxury of being diagnosed when we're

no where far along as that. However, to answer your question, a number of

folks are so non-symptomatic, that they just don't get diagnosed until

later. I wouldn't exactly characterize such late diagnosis as rare, but it

is fairly uncommon. However, we've just had two new members recently who

have had such late diagnoses.

I am very impressed you got your BP on track in only three weeks! That fast

is rare! I've found it always takes my son a week and a half, two weeks to

get used to any new dosage change. It was a good four months or so before

we got a handle on that one - so you done good. Doing three or four BP meds

is pretty common - as you already figured out.

Going in with lots of questions is always a good thing. If you haven't

found it already, do check our out companion web site, www.igan.ca This is

one of the better kidney sites that I have seen.

I can't help you out with the stomach pain issues. I'm hoping that someone

who has more knowledge that I re advanced kidney disease can weigh in on

this one. Do be sure to ask your doc.

ago with iga. I am at 25% kidney function. I go to my neph again on

Tuesday and have a long list of questions to ask him. My most frequent

complaints seem to be fatigue and high blood pressure. We finally got it

normalized three weeks ago and I am certainly hoping it stays that way - I

am on three different bp meds and after reading the emails from this group,

it's nice to know that it isn't unusual. Is it unusual to be at such a low

kidney function when initial diagnoses is made? My neph says that he has no

idea how long I've had it.

Welcome to the group. My daughter was having the same pains in her

stomache and they put her on Zantec twice a day, it has really

helped. also feels really tired alot, she will have all this

energy and after doing something she will get really tired. The

past two days have been really hard on her, whenever she is tired

she just goes and lays down for an hour or so. I have only been

involved with this group for about 4 weeks and I want to tell you

they are the most wonderful and amazing people you will ever meet.

They have gotten me through some hard times and I'm sure that they

will help me through the next stage of hard times.

Hi Cy,

Thanks for replying. I would love to say that it only took three weeks

to get the bp under control - we first found I had high blood pressure in

early July and it has taken 5 months to find the magic combo.

OK - that sounds more realistic! I'm so glad you got that under control.

BP management is such a big part of this game. Please let us know how

things go with the neph tomorrow.
