Guest guest
I think the chemical smell that people can detect on bananas comes from the gassing that they do in the processing plants before shipping. The gassing is to help them to ripen. I live in South Florida and grow my own bananas and they do not have that smell. > My only reason to bring up " conventional " vs. " organic " is maybe it is the pesticides the food was sprayed with that the person is reacting to - not the actual food itself. > > When I was eating conventional bananas and other foods, my mouth would either itch or have a slightly numb feeling. Once I switched to organic foods, the numb feeling or itching stopped. > > Pam > ----- Original Message ----- > From: > > > Doesn't matter when it comes to food allergy because the food becomes an > antigen, with antibodies to it in the blood. Guest guest
Are you saying that the antibodies that show up in the blood are antibodies to pesticide? " Conventional " vs. " Organic " was Glucose or Adrenals > My only reason to bring up " conventional " vs. " organic " is maybe it is the pesticides the food was sprayed with that the person is reacting to - not the actual food itself. > > When I was eating conventional bananas and other foods, my mouth would either itch or have a slightly numb feeling. Guest guest
I don't know the answer to your question. I do know that people have reactions to pesticides and that if someone is having problems eating a certain food, it could be the pesticides that were used in growing the food rather than the food itself. I am stating from my experience only that it made a difference for me to switch to organic foods instead of conventionally grown foods. I do , however, have some foods that I cannot eat no matter if they are organic or not - I have allergic reactions to them and have been tested and have antibodies. I just wanted list members to consider the whole picture: the food as well as how it is grown, shipped and handled. It may be the food itself or it may be pesticides if conventionally grown that they are reacting to.
