Guest guest
Thanks Ramona I like Pro Complex but the price seems a bit high. I get the 4.4 Lbs from Advantage Supplements for $36.46 so a less expensive option would be nice.Ramona wrote: The product is is made by protein USA and their website is www.proteinusa.net . My surgeon was Dr. Tanaka at Pacific Bariatric and he made me practically sign in blood that I would have 2 scoops of pro-complex a day for the rest of my life! I feel better having protein shakes, too, so I think I will continue (especially since my doctor highly recommends – no, insists – upon it). Pro-Complex is also sugar-free, low cal, etc. Glad to hear that you find it helps with skin and hair…I haven’t started losing hair yet (I’m 3 mos out), but I’m trying to do anything that I think will help reduce the likelihood of losing much of it. Thanks for the suggestion of Champion Pure Whey Stack (it’s not related to Stacker, is it?) I’ve checked out vitalady’s web site and will probably order some samples, too. -----Original Message-----From: Laurie Warner Sent: Tuesday, July 27, 2004 4:28 PMTo: gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients Subject: Re: Stirring Up The Hornet's Nest - MILK I have done an informal "survey" of long-term weight loss surgery patients, and MANY of the ones who keep their weight off do protein shakes daily. Of course, they make them with water. I couldn't stand Pro-Complex so Dr. Zorn at Pacific Bariatrics said if I could find one I liked better, with the same protein grams (told me to aim for 30 per serving) and with no added sugar, to go for it. So I found Champion Pure Whey Stack in chocolate. Yummmmm! You can buy samples for $2 each at www.vitalady.com (and a lot of other places online). I like Vitalady because she has lost a lot of weight through WLS and has kept it off for 10 years. She is very involved in a lot of online lists and is generous with her time in answering private e-mails and questions. I bought a dozen samples and found one I liked. Actually, more than one! If I thought milk was bad, I forgot to mention that there is a LOT of controversy in the WLS community about protein shakes. I know I feel better when I have them, so that's the gauge for me. The ones I use, with water, are extremely low calorie and have no added sugar (made with Splenda). My hair and skin are better when I do the shakes, and it helps control my carb cravings. So for me, I'm not giving them up. Even if my doctor told me not to do them anymore (which he hasn't), I'd keep doing them because I can really tell a difference, even if I miss a day. Laurie W. RE: Stirring Up The Hornet's Nest - MILK Thanks very much for the comments about milk. I’ve always been a big dairy person (pun intended, I guess) and fortunately (?) I still tolerate it just fine even after the surgery. However, you brought up some interesting points that will help me think twice about my milk intake. Milk seems to be the only thing that makes the protein drinks palatable for me, but I only use about ½ a cup when I mix it with 2 scoops of pro-complex so I guess I’m not gonna sweat it if I have ½ a cup of milk a day. Thanks again

Guest guest
I get Champion Pure Whey Stack from www.allstarhealth.com or from www.vitalady.com At AllStarHealth it is $25 to $30 (depending on their promotions) for 5 pounds, with $5.00 for shipping, no matter how much your order. I'd at least check it out by way of a sample or two through Vitalady. Both Vitalady and AllStar ship within a few days - I've never waited longer than a week. Max Muscle stores in the Sacramento area also carry it, as do *some* GNC stores and other "fitness stores". They price is so outrageous that I don't even bother buying it in a store - online is a lot more economical. Laurie W.
