-- what's the norm for hair fall-out how soon after

first chemo treatment??

Hey all,

I had my first chemo treatment a week ago last Monday, so it will be 2

weeks this monday since the treatment.

How soon will I lose my hair??

I've ordered my wig already, so that's coming soon.

Sleeping hair soon.

curious,

Hi Sandy,

Mine started to fall out in a few strands at a time 2 weeks after chemo, then in

came out in clumps 2 days before my next chemo which was 3 weeks to the day from

the last. I still have some hair left, but my grandbabies have more then I

do...LOL, I still loose strands a little at a time and it has been 1 week and 2

day since my 2nd treatment, A/C.

Hope this helps, everyone is different.

Take care,

Jolene

Sandi,

I think the majority of us lose our hair right after the 2nd chemo. It starts

getting " loose " and falling out a bit toward the end of the 1st chemo. Mine

gave up and jumped off my head right after that 2nd dose. (Actually, once I

began to seriously shed, I shaved it ).

Good luck,

Ann

Hi Sandy,

Looks like we are close to the same time for our cemos. I had my first

treatment this last Tues. I thought I was lucking out with no side

effects,,,,Wrong..lol By weds evening I started feeling bad by Thurs, I

was hurting all over and was so fatigued didn't even have the energy to

Chew!!! Friday I still had the fatigue,,,,Sat fatigue was getting better

but had terrible headache,,,Sat still had headache and had taken all the

tynol I could so my hubby called the Doctor and they ask me if I had any

pain medication left over from m;y surgerys which I did, They told me to

take those, Which I did and that sure helped, This is Sunday now,,,,no

headache and I almost feel back to normal. I was also wondering when the

hair would start to go, I think everyone is different. I keep hoping I

will be one of the lucky ones and not lose it!!!!! We can always hope

right?.....lol My next treatment is July 3rd, Al ready dreading it,

Steph

Everyone is different when it comes to losing or not losing their

hair... That was the hardest part of being diagnosed with BC for

me.. I knew I would lose my hair ,but when it came out in clumps 10

days after my 1st chemo, that's when it all hit me. This time

around, I was better prepared for it. In fact I lost my hair this

morning...(Happy Anniversary to Me!!) This bothers my hubby...he can

handle when I cry, but he doesn't deal with me being calm about it.

The American Cancer Society has a program for women going through

cancer called " Every Woman Matters " . It is free and helps women

affected by cancer feel good about their apperance. The will help

you style you wig, learn new ways to wear scarfs, hats, etc. and they

provide you with free make-up and show you how best to apply it.

Plus it is very comforting to be with others who need that little

extra something to make them feel better about themselves. Hope this

info helps a little. Take care,Vickie

The hospital I'm using has a " Look Good, Feel Better " class that

sounds a lot like what you describe. I'm enrolled for a class next

week.

I think it was a few day after my second treatment that my hair started coming

out. I remember the day. I was at work and as I ran my fingers through my hair a

whole handfull came out. It was pretty tramatic for me. I had to leave work for

the rest of the day. I think by the end of the week it was gone. and I started

waring my wig right away. good luck sweetheart and hang in there. It does grow

back.tt
