Guest guest Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 Hi , Thank you so much for your reply... I actually did my own Q-tip test with a mirror this weekend, and I realized the the skin under the urethra that I thought was where the pain was originating from isn't what is painful to the touch... it's the skin at the top of the " horseshoe " of the vestibule. I have been worried as well that I have essential vulvodynia rather than vulvar vestibulitis because the pain has been a constant burning, with or without pressure. I definitely have pain in response to pressure (with a Q-tip, sex has been out of the question). Could the constant burning mean I just have a bad case? It hurts more when walking or driving, and the increased pain to the touch is limited to the vestibule. It's not sharp pain, just a low- level nagging burning... just enough that I can't forget it's there. Is this similar to what you experienced? Did the surgery help? Guest guest Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Hi , Thank you so much for your reply. Hearing that your symptoms were at times similar to mine, and that this surgery helped for you, has offered me more comfort & hope than anything my doctor could say! The pain has always been constant & low-level, even at rest - but the burning is only in the vestibule and exacerbated dramatically to the touch. Sex has never been super-comfortable, but nothing like what primary sufferers describe. This all began with what I suspect (given recent use of a broad-spectrum antibiotic) was a yeast infection. After Monistat, the itching went away; the burning never did. Thanks again! When dealing with such a daunting and uncommon (or maybe uncommonly talked about) problem, it's nice to know that I am not alone and there is relief. Guest guest Posted August 9, 2006 Report Posted August 9, 2006 A suggestion would be to go to the Home page and in there are several good articles that might help you hon to decide just what it is you might have if that's what you're looking for. (I'm drawing blanks tonight and am brain dead, (I swear) and still have about 200 emails to scan yet, Duh.. but if I can think of something to send on I will *grin*.. Guest guest Posted September 9, 2006 Report Posted September 9, 2006 Hi, I'm new to this site and my name is . I was just wondering how long you waited before you decided to have your surgery. Did they only remove the parts that were irritated? Do you have any problems with Vestibulitis now? Any discharge or wetness? Is intercourse painful ever or is it pleasant? I feel so hopeless right now about my vestib. I'm 27 and feel like I'll never have pleasant intercourse or a non-irritated, non-itching vagina and vaginal opening. Any thoughts or words of advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, > > Hi there, > I had a successful vulvar vestibulectomy 6 years ago.
