Guest guest
I find when I smell food, it stops 90% of the cravings, if I think about the havoc it causes on my system its stops 99% of my cravings, and if I take one small bite it cures what the other two do not! But it is rare that I need a bite...usually smelling it works...do not ask me how or why... Love Gordy wrote: Thanks for sharing your food festival experience with us. I have to tell you that that's one of the what-if's that's been on my mind for a couple of weeks now. It's good to know that there's hope for people like me who can't seem to say no to food when it smells like we want it...bad.Thanks again,Gordy36 cubes away from WLS> Cecilia> > Unfortunately these feelings dont go away entirely. Guest guest
: Yes, I agree with you too. I LOVE the smells of food. I drink in the smells of garlic and onions being sauteed in butter. And if there's shrimp in there, even better because I can have one or two of the shrimp! I also love the smell of freshly baked bread, and while I'd like to taste it (and sometimes I will take a small pinch of bread just to taste it) there is no desire to eat and eat and eat everything in sight. Smelling before was always a precursor to a binge. Now I can simply enjoy the smell for what it is. Strange but true. Guest guest
For me, I never had a problem with bingeing. Strange but true. I overate, sure, but it was not a binge. THe closest thing I ever had to a binge ( which I thought was a binge until it was explained to me that it was not) was that I would PLAN what to eat, in great detail, usually after a bad day at work. IE: I would go to the store, buy a pint of icecream, a couple of magazines, and go home, plop on the couch, and lose myself in the high society world of models and fashion, a world that seemed like a dream to me. But now, I still get the magazines, but now it does not seem like such a dream, you know? With the PCOS, and the insulin resistance that goes with it, if I overindulge in carbs I get these wierd pains, like when you are starving. And I feel hungry in addition, and if you try to eat from that after eating say 20 mins ago...big problems. Thank God that only happened once and I learned. But I am not above a bite of rice or pasta ( a small bite, and only if smelling it did not work!) But I remind myself...I did this for me, for my hubby, and to fulfil my dream of having kids, and if I get smaller along the way, great! It still seems like a dream, losing weight..I still cannot imagine weighing less, but after the Holdiays last week I jumped on the scale...and I was down 5 lbs...this was after sampling French roast and cholent! Guest guest
Gordy- I've found that these types of events are, for me, starting to be more about the other things happening at the event (the people,, music, non-food vendor booths, shopping) and not so much the food...it used to be ALL about the yummy food that was there....interesting, strange. Same thing with like going out to dinner with friends, its more of a social thing now, not so much about the food itself.
