Guest guest
Hi Eileen, I think Mara's suggestions are very good. Berries have less fructose in them and some Candida diets even consider some berries to be a " sour " fruit. So, it may be a better choice for you. I cut the seeds by " peeling " off of the strawberries and I juice different berries in my Omega. But I see your concern with Berries as they have many seeds. Do you juice at all? Pears are very very sweet like Bananas. Maybe if you can make a bone broth base for the week and then every day throw in some veggies and meats (the way GAPS suggests) you'll get plenty of fats, veggies and it will be more digestible. Maybe you need to try and intro that way? I know you're scared about new foods but I think you need to try some new veggies so you can transition into a more Candida friendly way. I will give more suggestions about foods in the other post I am just a bit tired now.. Jodi
Guest guest
Eileen My blood sugars stay "OK" when fasting (high-normal, but have improved since being on SCD), but they fluctuate wildly once I start eating. Just bought a new blood glucose meter so I can compile evidence to show my new PCP. Doesn't take much to send me into hypoglycemia, so I have to pay attention to what I'm eating, when I'm eating it, and in what combinations.... As to low- and medium-carb veggies, which help with yeast elimination -- here's a listing from the info. in our group Files: ************* Lowest Carb asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, chard, cucumber, endive, greens (mustard and beet), lettuce, radish, spinach, tomato, watercress. Medium Carb avocado, brussels sprouts, chives, collards, green beans, eggplant, kale, onion, parsley, peppers, summer squash, fresh herbs. Beets and pumpkin are considered medium carb., but do have a higher sugar content. ****************** Of course you may not be eating all these veggies as yet. I'd put some in broth or soup initially. I'd also cut back on the fruits you're eating, have no more than one serving per day for a while to help kill of the yeast. I had to cut back even further with fruit, having one serving of a cooked or juiced fruit every other day for a long time until my yeast-related symptoms improved. Kim M. Guest guest
Hi Eileen, Besides the bone broth with meat and cooking veggies in it.. Have you tired coconut oil at all? Also, maybe you should get a couple of veggies and proteins intro'd in before you go all cold turkey with yeast triggers? Also, if your blood sugar is whacked (I have this too) maybe make yourself some juice and just take a diluted sips throughout the day until you kind of adjust? Bad reaction. Eileen, what about chicken breasts made into cutlets. You pound them thin, dip in egg and then pan fry them in olive oil? Delicious and good way to add in calories. > Also, maybe you should get a couple of veggies and proteins intro'd > in before you go all cold turkey with yeast triggers? I agree with this. Guest guest
Yes, it’s ok. Forget most of what you’ve ever heard about “fat is bad.” Most isn’t bad. In fact, it’s quite necessary to being healthy. Your body needs you to eat fats, even saturated fats: some nutrients come only from saturated fats. And to eat protein. It does not need you to eat carbohydrates. Your body can make carbohydrates from the fats and proteins you eat, if and when it needs it. (For explanations read Life Without Bread. Very helpful book; takes a slightly different approach to carbs than the SCD does, but it is mostly complementary and explains a lot of things Gottschall didn’t.) n From: BTVC-SCD [mailto:BTVC-SCD ] On Behalf Of blackguitarmaker Sent: Sunday, March 29, 2009 2:12 PM To: BTVC-SCD Subject: Re: ok diet help again -sorry -long sounds really good yum!!!- ok i typed my new diet into fitday - no prob calorie wise but 67% FAT!!!! and 7% carb - that's not ok right??? eileen > > > Hi Eileen, > > > > Besides the bone broth with meat and cooking veggies in it.. > > > > Have you tired coconut oil at all? > > She sure did. Guest guest
Eileen, I get those symptoms from new foods even on Low Dose Naltrexone. The key is to not do too much at one time and do it every couple of days to see how you feel. If you have yeast issues- die off will be a constant trigger for a while. It's ok though. You might loose a bit of weight in this adjustment period- but you really shouldn't freak out. You're body is healing. I wasn't dipping at all but than I had to do a whole diet overhaul to go low/no fat so I intro'd more fruit which is making yeast worse but I have to take it one step at a time and not feel too deprived or hungry. I am doing the best that I can given the challenges. I also get shaky with the dips. I always thought it was classic Hypoglycemia but after reading what Kim M wrote I will have yet another thing to add to the list to read about! I have very low BP too, fast heart rate- much better than it used to be (I attribute this to not being so chronically dehydrated the way I did for 13 years going to the toilet over 30-40 times a day) I make my own juice- I would strongly suggest you do the same and see if it makes a difference. Also, have you ever done a squeeze of fresh lemon in water right in the morning? That helps with detox, cleaning liver and alkalinizing. I am able to tolerate squash every 3 days without it triggering yeast. So, what I do is I keep thing on rotation. Lottsa ins and out but you'll see when yeast gets under control you will feel so so much better! Jodi
Guest guest
Eileen, Cellulite is not due to fat you eat. Eat, enjoy and get healthy and then you can start working out to get those thighs into shape like doing Yoga, Pilates, light weights, some low grade Cardio. We women need to stop worrying about these imperfections and just get our butts into motion to get better and take care of ourselves properly. Guest guest
Eileen, Part of being healthy is excersizing. Keep that heart working well and blood flowing properly. If I get to a point where I can take a couple of Yoga classes a week I would be ecstatic (let me start at 1 class LOL) Have you ever noticed that some very skinny or amatiated people have cellulite (I sure as heck did) You want healthy muscle mass and you want the muscle to be toned- that comes from being in shape, not from being thin. I'm normal and my body is like jelly from years of being inactive. This IMO is also a huge part of the vicious cycle keeping me sick. I used to eat Ben and Jerry's Chunky Monkey, New York Super Fudge Chunk and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and still lose weight. Crohn's was like natural weight loss all of these years until I got bad ovarian cysts. I take being festively plump over a life in the toilet any day. Of course I don't think this is more important to you- I just think you should not focus on such things while getting well. One of my mottos when I was on huge amounts of steroids and I ballooned was not to look in the mirror. It works. I give you the same advice.
