Hi Gordy,

I don't remember ever discussing Drs. Fisher or Park. I don't really know

much of anything about either of them. With any luck, some one who does

will post.

My busy life is . . . well . . . way too busy these days. I almost feel

guilty about taking the time to visit here. Almost . . . but not quite.

This is something I need to do for me. This coming weekend is our 3rd for

this run of Faire - there are 3 more after that and then all the disassembling,

moving and stowing to be done. With all the things that I need to do for

my booth during the week as well, it is almost too much to handle. It is

a lot of work, but a labor of love. Some really fun things have happened

and, when I get more than a minute or two, I'll post some of them.

For right now . . . a shipment of stock for my booth just arrived and I need

to get it into inventory, price-marked and re-packaged for transport to the

site. Then, it is off to water the plants (I sell pots of live herbs, as

well as stone objects and much more), pack my camping gear and costumes and

so on. Oh, yes, also need to alter my costume bodice . . . for some strange

reason, it is too big and needs to be taken in quite a bit. ;-)

All the best,

Kay

Hi Kay...

Thanks. I forgot to add in todays post to Martha that I

mentioned "Richmond in particular" in my orignal post. I was asking

the question because I remembered you and others talking about Dr

Baggs performing LAP but Not Dr Fisher or Dr. Parks. I'll be having

my procedure in Richmond and I'm sure that I'll find out eventually

but It was on my mind now....that's why I was asking. I appreciate

your response.

How's your busy life these days ?

Kay,

Gordy, & everyone,

I

have Dr Fisher doing my WLS next Wed.

I’ve only met him once, but I got a very good impression of him. He was very pleasant, listened to my

questions, and gave me good answers.

Next week I’ll know more and I’ll post again.

Kay

where is the Faire being held now?

We haven’t been in about fifteen years. Maybe we will go again sometime.

Gordy,

I don't know for sure. I'd be surprised if they don't all know how to do

lap by now, since that's how most of the surgeries are done these days

unless the patient can't qualify. Individual surgeons are going to have

diff. levels of expertise but as I said before, there's always 2

surgeons doing the surgeries. That's what I was told at KSSF, anyway,

and since it's so intense I'd be surprised if anyone does it solo.

Gordy:

Someone may have more current info on the Richmond surgeons, but this

is what I remember.

I was initially assigned to Dr. Park (who does lap rny), but I was

not a good candidate because I carried my weight around my midsection

(typical for men). I was told that women in general make better

candidates for lap because they tend to carry their weight lower on

their bodies.

Dr. Park went out on maternity leave so Dr. Fisher took over as my

surgeon. He was great! My scar was only 4 inches long, but now it

is 7 inches due to my abdominoplasty. How funny! Smaller tummy,

larger scar. (And I don't mind a bit!)

Dr. Baggs came on board after I was post-op, so I haven't met him or

had any dealings with him. I have to say, however, that in post-ops

who are further out, their scars tend to be bigger (I've heard them

called rail road track scars). All the scars that I've recently seen

come out of Richmond have been really minimal as they don't seem to

use staples very often.

I hope this information is helpful. I was originally interested in

getting lap, but just getting the surgery period was more important

to me.

Let us know what happens in your case.

Dr Fisher is absolutely wonderful !! I am very glad and fortunate he

was my surgeon. I dont think he does lap though because when I had my

consult with him , he told me I would have to wait about 2 months to

have it because at that time Dr Baggs was just coming on. I had

already waited so long..I decided to go ahead and have open. I was

fine..no complications and my incision is 5 inches long. So, in

answer to your questions, I dont think all Kaiser surgeons do LAP.
