Oh, April - it'll be a breeze!!!! :-)

You say you're prepared. it sounds like you're prepared ... last minute

jitters are normal.

Having mile 10 land right in front of your house is fortuitous... I

always play

mind games when I exercise and here, you can say - " just as long as I get

to my house, I'll be OK " ... and once you get there - " three more miles?

That's

nothing " ...

Tell us how you do .... I'm particularly interested in your pace. I'm an

emergent runner (although it will never compare to cycling, IMHO), but

I'm slow. On the treadmill, I can run comfortably at 5 MPH for an hour

(12 min. mile). I'm going to try my first REAL 5K run this spring. If I

can come in under 35 minutes, I'll be thrilled.

I'll definitely post a " post-race report " for you guys. As far as

pace, Mitch, if you are doing a 12-minute mile average for hour long

runs, you'll be much faster for a 5K race. On my long training runs,

I start with about a 12-minute mile pace, but once I'm warmed up, I

end up averaging somewhere around 11 minute miles. But, when I race

5Ks, I do more of a 9:30 or 10 minute mile average. I think it's all

the adrenaline, plus running a shorter distance. From what I've read,

it is a very normal response to be faster when you are actually in a

race situation than when you are running alone.

You are going to do GREAT! Imagine how you'll feel when you hit that

finish line and just keep your mind on that. I think butterflies are

totally normal. Heck, even with the 5k we ran last weekend the entire

way there I kept thinking " Maybe we shouldn't...maybe just go to Seattle

instead... " I know I'm going to do that, but I also know I'll never

actually quit.

I am SO impressed with the half marathon! Whahoo!
