Guest guest
I have started the process for surgery. I have my group dietician appointment set late Sept. All I will need after that is the psychological evaluation. I discovered today that I am expecting a baby. Does anybody know what happens with the surgery? I don't want to redo everything after the baby. Do I go ahead with the process or stop? a
Guest guest
First of all, congratulations! Second, I'm afraid you'll have to stop the process. You don't mention your geographical area, but if you're in the Bay Area or Northern California, you can call Kaiser SSF and talk to Gity (or Marina). I am terribly ignorant about how to get in touch with these people, but I know that others here will post more specifics. Have you checked with your primary care doctor at Kaiser and asked him what you should do? Regardless, you'll probably have to pick it up again in a year or so. Don't stress! Just consider what you've done already to be "dress rehearsal." Perhaps the process will be more streamlined next year. Laurie W. does anybody know what happens? Guest guest
a - I originally started this process in December of 2002 but had to stop because I had a really bad illness that required several weeks in the hospital and several months recovery. I called SSF and talked to Marina and let her know that I wasn't able to continue with the process. It's important that you do that and not just bail on them. When I was ready to continue with the process, my PCP sent my request up to them and within a week I got a phone call from Marina letting me know that my paperwork was already there and that I could just continue where I left off. I was out of the loop for about a year. Just be sure to let Marina or Gity know that you need to drop the process until after the baby. I don't think it would sit well with them if you just stop coming to appointments. Hope that helps, in Cupertino Pre-op
Guest guest
Hate to burst your bubble, but I am certain you can't have surgery when you are pregnant. You can talk to your PCP or Members Services to see if they will require you to start the process again from square one after the birth. Congratulations on your new addition to your family!
