Guest guest Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 The wife of a friend in the US has just been diagnosed with lung cancer, and is having intensive radiation therapy. She is suffering from nausea and vomiting, which I never had with my chemo so I can't help. Please could you tell me what are the most successful anti-nausea drugs so I can pass on the info to her? Thanks in advance, Margery. ============================================ margery@... in North Herts, UK ============================================ Quote
Guest guest Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 Margery, I am having the most luck with Zofran and Compazine. Another thing that seems to help is peanut butter. It seems to " coat " the stomach lining, giving one less of that acid, queasy feeling. --- Margery Allcock wrote: > The wife of a friend in the US has just been diagnosed with lung > cancer, and > is having intensive radiation therapy. Guest guest Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 Margery, The best advice you can give her is to call her doctor. They know the best anti-nausea drugs for the type of treatment she's having. I had Zofran and Emend, along with steriods. My best to her...hate to hear someone suffering. Best, Quote

Guest guest Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 Don't let yourself go past "eating" time, even if it's a few crackers. It's very similiar to morning sickness, which is exerbated by an empty stomach. If it's only lasting a few hours, call them. They can give you something to go "hand in hand" with what you're taking to help. Best, Quote

Guest guest Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 Hello , That is funny you mentioned peanut butter. I craved peanut butter right before my diagnose of bc. In fact there is a article how we crave peanut butter and popcorn with breast cancer. The website is www.cancer-prevention.org. jennifer ruffing wrote: Margery,I am having the most luck with Zofran and Compazine. Another thing thatseems to help is peanut butter. Guest guest Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 Sharon, The link took me to the cancerprevention site, but I couldn't find the article. It's interesting because I have been craving popcorn and peanut butter. I'm a crunchy gal, but will eat any sort. Is it a folic acid thing? Best wishes, PS: Anybody out there with anti-nausea tips? I'll try anything. The Zofran lasts for about two to three hours - then the queasies start. Will the Taxol cause nausea? I just finished the fourth A/C. --- sharon coley wrote: > Hello , > > That is funny you mentioned peanut butter. I craved peanut butter > right before my diagnose of bc. Guest guest Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 I used Compazine in a generic med and it works just fine for me. Hope this helps somebody. Janet Quote
Guest guest Posted May 31, 2006 Report Posted May 31, 2006 Margery, my doc gave me Compazine shots and it helped. (I posted a few minutes ago about anti-nausea to answer another post, and I think I said the drug was phenargan -- I really do need to give these poor old brain cells a rest!) hugs, Nan > > > The wife of a friend in the US has just been diagnosed with lung > > cancer, and > > is having intensive radiation therapy.
