Guest guest
I recommended the book. And I hate to say it, but I haven't read it! I chat with him sometimes on Dotti's website, and I find when he isn't joking around (he's got a fantastic sense of humor) he really IS profound. I'm glad you're enjoying the book. I NEED to order it, as I'm needing an extra boost right now. Yes, that concept is very profound. I've always thought weight loss was 99% mental. But that really puts it in perspective. I've been living in my cell for about 20 years now and it stinks. Reminds me of The Wizard of Oz....you always had the power to go home!!!! Listmom Lyn Quote of the day I bought a copy of Fred 's book, From Chunk to Hunk, based on messages on this list. So far, I really like it! Fred has a lot to say about the mental work that we must do in order to lose weight and maintain the loss, much of it pretty profound. Here's one that struck me: " We humans are unique in that we create situations and problems for ourselves where we manage to be both the prisoner and the jailer. Though I've been locked in this prison for eighteen years, I've only been there because I never seriously tried to open the door. " Wow. What a cool concept - the door is already unlocked; you just have to open it and walk out! Guest guest
Very true!! For the longest time I never thought I was fat. My mom would tell me I was, a couple of close friends hinted at it, and a really bitchy doctor (that I still hate) told me I needed to loose 30 lbs, but I was never unhappy and I really didn't want to change my eating habits. It wasn't till I was about 50 lbs over weight that I really became unhappy and started dieting. Even then I didn't try very hard and never took any diet very seriously. It wasn't till I stepped on the scale and saw 194 that I freaked out and it really sunk in that " Oh my lord... I'M FAT " Kris 194/137/132 -----Original Message----- Here's one that struck me: " We humans are unique in that we create situations and problems for ourselves where we manage to be both the prisoner and the jailer.
