Teri,

Ya you gotta wonder about insurance co. You would think they would look at cost

effectivness. No wonder the country is in such a state medically and health

insurance.

Hope your tomorrow's are a little brighter. Take care of yourself,

Laurie

Teri - You're right. It is absolutely stupid.....but then is anyone really surprised? LOL Dressings aren't covered by my policy either and they've been sending a nurse out 2 - 3 times each week for the past 2 and a half months to change mine. It actually works for me since I can't change my own dressings anyway, but still. The poor nurses chase me around like a maniac.....They come both to my home and, if my schedule is nuts, they come to my office. Ya gotta love them! Barbara (who wonders if they're gonna send one to New Orleans with me too)Teri Lehr wrote:

I have to say that insurance companies are the stupidest people on earth. Are you ready for the latest with my son...

The insurance company will not pay for the very specific dressings for my son's burns and graphed areas. They informed me of this today....at this point I have already racked up over $200 in supplies at the medical supply store. Now since they won't be paying it...I will be happy to clear my account with them, but here comes the good part...

They told me that they will not pay for the supplies since they are self-administered supplies. So instead...they are going to pay for a nurse to come into my house to change the dressings.

I simply cannot believe that they are willing to spend more money to have the nurse come in to do something that I can do rather than to just pay for the supplies. The nurse will be bringing in the necessary supplies with her. So now they are paying the nurse, her travel expenses, and for the necessary dressings.

Is this just completely stupid or am I just nuts for thinking this is stupid?

So much for being cost effective I guess. NO WONDER INSURANCE COSTS SO MUCH!!!!!!!

Barbara,

Good morning....seems me and you are the only ones around this morning...or at least the only ones posting.

Yes they are stupid....I have been doing it for the last couple of weeks....now they decide that they aren't going to cover it. What a waste of money! Sadly enough it is our money that is being wasted. I always felt that I had really good insurance, but I guess I am beginning to wonder now with this latest display of ignorance.

Now thats just downright silly! But on the brightside at least they

ARE paying for the care! Retarded as their ideas may be.

Have a good day Teri
