It is good that you are able to see your friend...She needs all the support she can get now...Tell her about the good times we had to together and just support her now...Had a cousin pass away last October of ovarian cancer...Her family was there for her in her last days...Things dont always work out the way you would like them to but you have to do the best... Listen to her if she wants to share her feelings, give her lots of love, talk about all the good times you had together. I have known of ladies given just days/weeks to live and some lived for quite a few years. We do have a sister group for Stage IV patients if you would like to join that one also. http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/stageivbreastcancer Its not been real active the

In addition to her breast, the cancer spread to her right/left lymph nodes, liver and spinal cord. The onc gave her 4 rounds of very aggressive chemo, she was really sick after chemo but it paid off. The doctor told her in December that she was cancer-free and they scheduled a full masectomy for January. After the

masectomy, the onc waited a month and told her he wanted her to have two more rounds of the aggressive cancer since, as he put it, her cancer was very aggressive. After her second round of chemo, she didn't recover. She was very, very dizzy and vomiting a lot, she went to the ER and they told her it was the effects of chemo and the stomach flu. After 4 weeks, her husband insisted on an MRI and they found a brain tumor.... this was a month ago.The tumor was successfully removed but, they did a scan and found that she still has cancer on the outer layer of her brain that is inoperable. She's in the hospital right now, they have told her that her chances of recovery are "slim to none" but she is still fighting. I spoke to her son and he told me that they've given her days to live.... maybe 2 weeks (I live in Oregon, she's in Chicago). She's still fighting the cancer, today

they are operating on her to put ports in her brain, despite being told she has 2 weeks of life left.I'm flying to Chicago tomorrow to be with her. I don't really know what to say to her right now. She was told in December that she was cancer-free, a month ago she was making plans to visit me - - now this. What do I tell her now? AbbyHi Abby; just be there for her, give her words of encouragement. Let her family, son, husband you're there for whatever they may need. Always remember the best of times, and keep an open mind throughout all this. She is in my prayers. God bless you for being such a great friend. Sincerely
