Guest guest
Awesome Danni! There is nothing " too small " to be thankful for. Ever. In fact, it is those little things that make life special. Like my honey just brought me a little treat. That's what makes me smile and makes my boring days wonderful. I, personally, loved your top ten!

Guest guest
Top Ten Good Things This Week 10. Today I was working out at Curves. One of the ladies who is a regular had just had her first month's measurements taken and had lost a total of 14 inches and 12.5 pounds. We all cheered for her (what a great feeling). Well after I was done she was talking to Sandy (one of the ladies that works there) and she said something about wanting to be like Tory someday. Well Sandy said " Tory? Well she's right over there! " She stopped working out and screamed, " YOU'RE TORY!?! Oh I just want to shake your hand. Thank you SO much. The first two weeks of working out were SO hard but I'd look at your flower and I'd think, 'look...someone did it. If she can do it, I can do it.' and it helped me keep going. " It was really cool. The flower is a thing they started where for every 4 inches you've lost you get a petal and since I've lost 80 inches there are lots of petals on mine. 9. Last night I hosted a LAN party for my kids from 3:00-9:00. One of my special needs kids was there and despite the fact that he got highly agitated during the gaming (another " special " kid was getting a little hyper and it was bothering him) he managed to maintain. This is a HUGE victory for him as he's a) not very social, rarely accepted when he is, and c) has autism so managing his emotions, especially when he gets agitated, is a MAJOR thing for him. On my part, I maintained my own agitation with him. (While I am generally a patient person (stop laughing), spending just an hour with this young man can be exhausting, six hours is trying at best. At the end of the evening he came up to me and apologized, another big step for him (recognizing his own anti-social behavior and taking responsibility for it). He also stayed (along with a third of my special ones...I do attract the needy ones) and helped clean up afterwards. 8. A mother came in to see me last night and greeted me with " You are the coolest teacher in the world! " She told me she was pulling her son out of the Skill Center Networking program and putting him in with me because I'm one of the few teachers who " get " him. (He is a special needs student who is brilliant, but has a lot of issues.) 7. I chaperoned the dance last night (after the LAN) party and had a really good time. Man oh man, though, I really wish we had a stricter dress code. I have noticed that the tighter the girls' fashions get, the looser the boys' fashions get. Hmmm. Wonder why! I think we made quite a nice little bit of money selling soda and half the ticket revenues. (We being FBLA.) 6. January is over today, which means February starts tomorrow and we should be seeing crocuses croaking within a few weeks! 5. I got a VERY complimentary email from two school board members regarding my program this week. I also got an email from our superintendant asking me to congratulate my student who passed the professional cert. Exam. (It did not miss my notice that she did NOT say anything related to the program, that I work very hard at, having anything to do with his passing.) I am presenting him at the school board meeting on Monday. 4. Roy got his play chosen for the Spring, " Suessical " . Leave it to my honey to take on a HUGE musical! I'm so proud of him that he is providing real acting opportunities for his kids with contemporary plays that not only are fun, but allow them to broaden their horizons. 3. We are going to see the play " Chicago " in Seattle tomorrow! Wahoo! I am SO sad to miss the Super Bowl (not). We'll record it and then watch the commercials later. Roy got the tickets not realizing it was Super Bowl Sunday. 2. Our Tuesday night community education classes are going SO well! The kids are showing up each week to help the adult students. The adult students ADORE the kids. It's so good for all of them! 1. Roy surprised me with a new version of Dance Dance Revolution for X-Box and I'm having fun and getting in shape at the same time! Yeah, kind of boring and sort of self serving this week...but honestly sometimes boring is nice! My hope is the entire year is boring and uneventful and the biggest thing I have to complain about is lost luggage and being stranded in Minneapolis! ~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~'~' Tory Klementsen, MCP A+ Career and Technology Educator www.teechur.com www.msteechur.com -The successful person will do the things that the unsuccessful person will not.
