These are all just estimators more than calculators. They just give you a

ballpark figure. This is why most doctors will order a 24 hour urine every

once in a while so they can know what your creatinine clearance is.

Hi,

I can only remember one person here who compared the date he started

dialysis with the date the estimator generator. In his case, the estimater

was very accurate. Perhaps some other folks can weigh in what their

experience was.

My experience was that the MDRD calculator was bang on when it was decided I

would start dialysis. It showed 11.5% GFR.

The GFR estimator is less accurate when you have better kidney function, and

more accurate when your levels get really below 40% or so if my memory serves

me correctly, which may be questionable after this long week and a long day

today!
