Guest guest
Melinda, Sue, and other Sacramento/Central Valley People, As others have said, there is the Point West meeting, and the Wowsalsa meeting. I personally LOVE the Wowsalsa meeting. Although it was started for patients of Dr. Waldrep's group, it's now open to anyone and there are a lot of Kaiser patients who attend. They also have an online support group that is quite active and encouraging (go to www.groups.yahoo.com and do a search for Wowsalsa). The Wowsalsa support group is great because they have a guest speaker every month (yesterday it was a nutritionist) -- like a psychologist, bariatric surgeon, plastic surgeon, bariatric physician, personal exercise trainer, behavior management specialist, etc. They also have a wonderful clothing exchange, and sometimes have vendors offering freebies or discounts for services/products. Very cool people there too. Wowsalsa meets the second Saturday of every month, from 3-5 p.m. at Sutter Roseville Hospital, second floor conference room. You just HAVE TO check out this group -- it is wonderful! Laurie W. Me again I live in Sacramento and I had my surgery at Richond CA. Are there any support groups in Sacramento area?ThanksMelinda

Guest guest
Thanks I will check this out. I need support and to be around people who are going through what I'm going through. Guest guest
Melinda: Hi! I live in Elk Grove and had surgery @Kaiser Richmond on March 30, 2004 with Dr. Fischer. I totally know what you mean about realizing what a priority food was in our lives. Actually, food is still important to me as a post-op - protein food, that is. I also had to find new hobbies to fill the time I used to spend focusing on what I was going to eat next. It's still a challenge. There are at least five support groups in the Sacramento area that I know of. I just got through typing up a description of each in a posting I sent to Mike. Also, you can always email me directly if you want to talk more about our experiences. This email group is great because it gives you daily info and inspiration. The in-person support groups are good, but they only meet once a month and, for me, I need the support on a more frequent basis. Good luck, and hope to hear more from you! ette from Elk Grove 3/30/04 - Dr. Fisher Pre-op-351/@surgery-298/current-255 > I live in Sacramento and I had my surgery at Richond CA.
