Guest guest
Pat, Congratulations! You're on your way. Carolheadingsouthca wrote: Today I had a call from Pacific Bariatrics (PB), the surgical group that works out of Scripps Hospital in San Diego, that they had received paperwork from Kaiser referring my for WLS! Since I haven't heard from Kaiser yet, it was a wonderful surprise. I had begun to hear, and therefore worry, that Orange County Kaiser, was beginning to refer people to UCLA. I'm sure that's a fine program, but I've been to PB's seminar, read and heard (thanks, B!) so much about them, that I was emotionally invested in having my surgery there. As has been discussed many times, southern CA Kaiser handles WLS very differently from northern CA Kaiser. It seems most contributers to this list are interested in the northern CA process, so I'll only briefly say that it took 8 months for my PCP to write her referral to the LA Kaiser office. It then took 5 weeks (only!) for the referral to PB to come through. I am scheduled for my 3 evaluations in San Diego on June 14, and depending on which of the 5 surgeons I want/get, the wait-time is 2 to 6 months for a surgery date. Thanks to B's training, I'm asking for Dr. --either father or daughter will do!Because traffic south is so bad in the morning, I may stay overnight in San Diego on the 13th. Can anyone tell me the name of the hotel near the hospital where many stay after surgery? (PB requires out-of-towners to stay in San Diego for a week after surgery in case any complications arise.)I'll be watching for answers to Gordy's question about what to be prepared for during the Psych evaluation. One small pleasure--I can keep my hastily made-up moniker. If I was assigned to UCLA, I would have had to change it to "headingnorthca"!Life is good. Thank you all for your support. I look forward to much more as I progress in my journey.PatPre-Op (REALLY!)Pls excuse my cross-post - I read 2 lists religiously!
Guest guest
Pat...the name of the hotel near the hospital is called the Sommerset Suites. The people there are very nice and accommodating. Good luck with your appointments. Shirley Dr. 12-30-04 281.5/204/???

Guest guest
Hi Pat, How wonderful! I'm glad that you got assigned to PB - I have never heard anything but really great things about them. June 14 is so soon - yay! There are a lot of us Northern Californians here - but we (at least, I hope that it is O.K. for me to speak for more than just myself) are interested in your progress along this journey. Folks, whether you are in Northern California, Southern California, Oregon, Colorado or where ever, we have much, much more in common than any differences we experience. All the best, Kay open RNY 12/1/03 headingsouthca wrote: > Today I had a call from Pacific Bariatrics (PB), the surgical group > that works out of Scripps Hospital in San Diego, that they had > received paperwork from Kaiser referring my for WLS!
