Hi

I am 10 months post op and have gained back 3 pounds. I have been

eating out alot lately due to birthdays, graduations, etc. I think

that if we notice it early we have the tools to turn it around. I am

going back to the basics of early surgery in order to get the weight

to come off again. Im really going strict for a week or two. Try

keeping a journal of everything that goes in your mouth and the

feelings you are having when you eat. Once you notice a pattern, you

can head it off and try doing something else. Like emailing some one

to talk you through it. Its hard to type and eat at the same time.

Thats what Im doing...I dont know if it will work but its worth a

shot. Keep your spirits up and try not to let old habits take control.

YOU CAN DO THIS AND YOU ARE SO WORTH IT !!!

Just remember, all is not lost. Ten lbs is easier to deal with than

102. You have recognized the problem, so now you need to use the

tools you've gained through this process to help yourself.

One thing I would suggest is to get yourself into support groups as

soon as possible to remind yourself of the reasons why you had

gastric bypass and to acknowledge how far you've come.

Also, you've got Kaiser's mental health care professionals at your

disposal should you need one-on-one help. Also, contact your case

manager and make an appointment. Don't wait. Reach out for help now.

It's not too late (it's never too late in my book). Don't, please,

don't beat yourself up. Keep your inner dialogue positive and

believe in yourself.

You can do this! This is just a slight detour on your path. You'll

learn a lot by turning this around, and then you can share your

wisdom with us.

We're behind you all the way. We know you can face this with

strength and dignity. Keep us posted on how you're doing.

I am 7 months post op and have noticed the appetite increasing. This

is the time to be vigilant about following the rules. Remember, this

surgery is only a tool. You still have to do the work and it gets

harder the farther out you go. If you return to your old habits, you

will return to your old weight. I highly recommend fitday.com. I

have logged every bite I have eaten since 3 weeks after surgery. I

am afraid if I let down my guard for even one day, the door will be

open and I won't be able to close it. I think I may continue to use

fitday for the rest of my life. At this point, I am still loosing 10

pounds a month. I was told that the average long term weight loss

for this surgery is 70% of the excess weight. That's not enough for

me. I want 100% so I am going to work harding than the average

person. This isn't easy, but soooo worth it.
