Guest guest
Hi I was wondering if anyone can help me. I am going in to hospital (again..lol..what a surprise!) in Sept for a couple of op's and my brain (there is one??) is now starting to think about things. I know before you have any surgery it is recommended that you should have a block done before hand to help prevent rsd spread. I can see how they would do this if the operation was on a limb ( leg/arm etc). But...always a but you know me...hee hee, but if the operations are for other rsd affected parts that ware not your limbs this time but internally in your body (trunk), how do you go about blocking that? I am now wondering if I should mention this to the Dr now about the blocks. They already have concerns about putting me under, and I have to have it done in a different hospital to where they normally do the op cos of the rsd, and have got the top aneasthtist to put me under and stay with me during the procedures. I know in theory I should have a block to stop the risk of even more spread from the area they are operating on, but what sort of block?...an epidural type of thing like they give mums in labour?..hell I have no idea..but then if it was one of those it would have to be done before and during I went under??..lol I do know that all the things are in the same area that they are doing but different things:womb, bladder, bowel, and then the stomach and intestines. I know I have to have this op, and I will have to have at least another one afterwards if not two, one I have refused to have..lol. Has anyone any ideas - do I say what the hell risk the spread after all things can't get any worse..roflmao, or do you know what sort of block I should be asking for? I dont have a pain doc up here where I am having the op...my pain doc in down in london left 2 yrs ago and I havent seen one since. The docs I see now are for the various things that are wrong....who had never heard of rsd,let alone come across affected parts of the body externally or internally affected by it before, so you can imagine- then puzzled looked on the faces and also the excitment - saying I have a interesting case- and I am treating someone with RSD of ..X,Y and Z. And talk about others wanting to have a look, poke and prod, ..you want to say no, but then you know if they look, poke an dprd it can only help others in the future...glutten for punishment????? They are learning quickly???? mmmm not sure LOL---only time will tell..hee hee hee Well any advice about blocks will be great, I have no idea who to ask so I thought of you guys. With all the stuff I have on file, I read and read it, but I can't concentatre and take it in. I have no doubt got information on it, but you know what you mind is like when you cant see the woods for the trees :-( Thanks again Sharon
