I think it is ok...?? I just started the diet and I drink Synergy brand

Kombucha-- i think it's ok. The fermented part and probiotics are good

and the juices are supose to be pure. I suffer from chronic

constipation, so its impossible to know waht i react to, so i cant say

that it would be safe for you. Maybe give it a test?

I liked the probiotics in it as well and the best part is they were

SCD legal probiotics!

I cant imagine anyone being constipated on scd. One thing I do know for sure that most people are deficient in magnesium and finding the right one is a must.. I take 2800 mg of magnesium glycinate daily. No problems with stools. I am a women and I also take calcium.

Sorry to be the deliverer of bad news, but since it is a yeast culture,I believe it is not legal. The only yeast legal on SCD is S. Boulardi, asfar as I know. The reason being that yeast, and bacteria otherthan acidophilus have a tendency to mutate and colonize and overrun our digestive tracts, creating biofilms that are very hard to eradicate and taking over the gut ecology, Perhaps this could be considered a very advanced food like Kefir, for people using SCD as a maintenance diet or for late stage healing rather than to get well.In any case, it is not legal for beginners, AFAIK. But I'm sure Marilyn will confirm when she returns - not sure when thatwill be.MaraI think it is ok...?? I just started the diet and I drink Synergy brandKombucha-- i think it's ok. It is legal -- if there are no illegals added to it. But Marilyn says it is an advanced food.

Look at message #8754 in the archives. Marilyn discusses kombucha tea at length. There are also several other messages that discuss this.

Thanks Kim!

I have to ask why Kombucha would be considered illegal b/c of

yeast, yet Kiefer would be o-k. Kombucha has a bit of alcohol in it

b/c of the fermentation that occurs, i.e., (I'm no chemist), there

fore burning the yeast up. Just a question though. Like I said, I

tried it, no issues!

Just wondering as to why....helps me understand this machine. It's

fermented, probiotic filled, w/ only " legal " ingredients listed.

Thanks Marilyn and welcome back. I will pray for your Mom!

It's because kombucha is a combination of bacteria and yeasts. I used it

pre-SCD, and it seemed to help, but I made my own -- I could not

tolerate the commercial stuff, which was entirely too expensive, anyway.

I also fermented it 2-3 x what is generally recommended.

Not all probiotics are truly beneficial to people with gut

issues.
