Guest guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 , I didn't have any hair return until about one month after chemo stopped. I know how you feel, it will return. I am sure you are beautiful bald. Ren Quote

I went ahead and shaved off my hair when itstarted coming out, but now I am even losing the stubble.I miss the stubble.I leave bits of hair everywhere I go, and am always picking them out ofmy eyes.Does anyone know how long this process will last? I'd say about 50% ofmy follicles are empty now.Take care everyone,__________________________________________________ Quote
Guest guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 Hi , My experience (on Adriamycin and Cytoxan), was that all my hair fell out before it started growing back. If you're shedding too much you may just want to shave off the stubble...or go around with a dustbuster :-) I didn't have alot of hair to begin with, so when I shaved it there wasn't much more left to 'shed'. I also was on the 2 week cycle. If you're taking chemo ev. 3 weeks it might take longer for your hair to fall out. My hair started growing back about a month after my last treatment, but then my eyebrows and eyelashes started falling out as my head hair was coming in! But it all grows back eventually. My eyelashes and eyebrows are now nice and dark and full. My hair didn't come back any fuller, but did come back darker...at least the parts that didn't come in gray! - Quote
Guest guest Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 - I haven't lost all of my stubble, but I'm about 50% gone too. My daughter's, boyfriend's mother had cancer too and she used to use a lint roller to collect the stray hairs after she had her head shaved...that might help keep them out of your eyes. Guest guest Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Hi My hair started falling out within two weeks of the first chemo. It came out in handfulls. It wasnt long after that, that I had my head shaven. I took tamoxafin after my chemo and rads, and my hair didnt really start growing until i had been changed to arimadex when the side effects of tamoxafin got too much for me. Ive always had long hair so it was pretty upsetting when it all disapeared. Now it has grown back and looks *messy* I went to the hair salon a couple of weeks ago and threatened her with a fry pan if she touched the length!! *laugh* I lost all colour out of my hair, im now completely grey and a slight curl, which maybe when it grows some more it may straighten out again! Just interested to know the ladies that have had their hair grow back what changes they have noticed? jayne wrote: Hi ,My experience (on Adriamycin and Cytoxan), was that all my hair fell out before it started growing back. Guest guest Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Hi Jayne, I don't have much hair yet to speak of, but what's come back is the same in texture - thin and slight wave. But it's come back with more gray and the parts that are not gray are darker. My eyebrows and eyelashes also came back darker. I read somewhere that your 'final' hair grows in around 1 /12 yrs. after treatment. - Quote

Guest guest Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Hi, Jayne - My hair is coming back now, very fine and silky. It was fine before, but not this fine. It's growing slowly but filling in nicely - you can't see my scalp through the gaps any more. The new hair is brown again, a bit darker than before, with about the same amount of grey as before. It is curly again although I was wishing for long, smooth and blonde <G>. There's hardly any come back under my arms, I never had much on my legs and there's less now, and on my body the new hair is straighter, darker, and sparser than before. There, more than you wanted to know ... How long since your last treatment , did it take to start growing in? It has not been long has it? I am having the same type treatments as you and I only hope and pray they work on me and are cut short like yours were! My tumor is shrinking some but I am sure that when I start the next regimen on the anti hormonal drugs, that will have even more results like yours did! I hope and pray anyway! My hair is fine too. It WAS fine. Love Quote

Guest guest Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 Just interested to know the ladies that have had their hair grow back what changes they have noticed? Mine is so baby fine now and has soft curls on the top, and somewhat darker. Here are a couple pictures, tho not good. The 1st one is 2 months after chemo no eyebrows or eyelashes either, and the 2nd one is 5 months later. Heck I looked better with no hair. I do have more hair now as the 2nd picture was taken a month and half ago, and I'm not looking as tired now/ Vicki K. & My YorkiesLizzie, Annie(PMR Rescue), Molly Moo (Rescue From Korea), Tee Tee (PMR Rescue) My Sweet Shayleigh 10-18-00--03-31-03My Little Audrey (PMR Rescue) 09-91--10-06-03Breast Cancer SURVIVOR --Dx'd 4-2005Our Yorkie Kid's Quote
