Hey Group,

Remember me!

I have had some questions, did some research, got them answered but other

then that, I haven't really posted in while.

Why now! Like I said, just haven't been myself. Is it progression, got me?

I had a real bad fall last week, which really bummed me out for two reasons;

I had RSVP'ed for the AZ lunch and couldn't go and the most disturbing is I

was holding my 2 1/2 year old grandson. He didn't get hurt, scared him a little

but I immediately turned it into a silly grams thing and he soon was smiling.

However, I was in so much pain. Nothing broken as usual, I must have some

strong bones, wish the muscles were like that. Anyway, I had this lovely bruise

from my knee down the side of the chin all the way to the top of my foot.

I know I am not supposed to walk while holding him and all I did was pick him

up to go about 5 feet. Actually, I don't pick him up, we have learned a climb

grams game and he can get up like a rock climber does. It was a very hot day,

109, and his little feet got hot coming from the pool to the porch. I only

had one step to go up that was only 3 inched high but I didn't make it. Went to

step up with the second foot and the other one just gave out and down we went.

I will never do this again, I promise.

I am having a hard time with my local nuero and finally told him Wednesday

that he is of no help and to please copy all my records and have an appointment

next week with a new guy. After the fall, my feet just don't work right. At

night they cramp from the Achilles to the calf. In the morning they are so

tight, walking is strained. I don't dare stretch them as that makes it worse. So

I

wanted my x-nuero to prescribe something to help keep my feet upright during

the night as they seem to point straight. I thought if I could get this, maybe

it would help. He said he had no idea how to write something like that and

maybe it was something for Dr Sivakumar at the NRC in Phoenix that I see like 4

times a year on a clinic basis. I said, but you are supposed to be here for me

between these visits. At least he was honest and said he had no idea how, so

it didn't take long to find another, we only have 4 in town. The new docs nurse

was so understanding, compassionate, caring, I can only hope the doc is the

same.

I did call Dr. Sivakumar and he suggested buying the athletic ankle supports

and give them a try. He said the AFO's that some use are good for the day but

would very uncomfortable to sleep with. So we got two last evening and I wore

them last night and had very minimal cramping. Actually felt rested when

waking. The normal getting up on them pain was still there but I wasn't worried

each step would send me into spasms.

Well, as usual my post got long and I hope not to boring. Sometimes it just

feels so good to write to those that understand.

Have a great evening,
