Guest guest
> Embrionic stem cells, according to what I'm reading, isn't going to > pan out. Look into it. Don't vote on inadaquit info. I'm happy you pointed this out. I wanted to say something on this line, but couldn't figure out how to say it without ruffling feathers. Also, Bush's policy is only restricting the expenditure of federal funds. Private money can still do research with the embryonic stem cells. And they are. But as you stated, without success so far. And, the most important thing when deciding a reason to vote for one candidate or another is the really IMPORTANT issues, and I don't think funding embryonic stem cell research is a really big issue. Sorry, other things are much bigger in my world. Safety of our way of life..freedom to choose to worship God, or not to...freedom to pursue an education. Freedom to choose the best medical care that is available in the world. The list goes on and on. But unfortunately, these freedoms are only guaranteed if are willing to fight for them. I think hanging my stars on one thing, such as embryonic stem cells, is myopic at best. Might as well invest in the lottery. That is not to say I don't support embryonic stem cell research. I just don't think it warrants all the hoopla it gets. Kind of like telling you that you can't have a drink of water. Makes you kind of thirsty, doesn't it? Guest guest
Bonnie I get the same thing from my neuro. I tell him about things I read and he tells me it's reserved for ALS. I know what you mean - it's frustrating. > I think it is wonderful that they are having positive results growing new motor neuron cells. However, when I asked my MDA neurologist about this, his response was that yes, this is very good, but that I (and all PLS'ers) would not be among the first to try any new treatment. That would apparently be reserved for people with ALS. > I got the impression that he (they?) don't consider PLS all that important since it is not life threatening. He kind of dismissed my interest... or he didn't want to get my hopes up, don't know which, but I was disappointed in his response. > > Bonnie G > >
Guest guest
It's not " them " it's the FDA regulations. If your life expectancy is only a few years they don't have to worry about long term problems, if they took us they would... dale Re: Stem Cells > > > Bonnie I get the same thing from my neuro.
