Guest guest
Hi all, Deb here. Was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes as a result of a DKA episode. Anyways, I am on Reg 22 ac and N 14 at hs with ss as needed. I am a nurse, thought i had a handle on the whole issue of diabetes and treatments. However living with it is totally way more interesting than teaching and such. I want to know something, is there anyone out there who is more comfortable with a blood sugar of over say 110?? I get the shakes if it goes below 110. My goals are fasting: 90-130 ac: 90-130 and HS 110-150. Will this just be a matter of getting accustomed to a more normal blood sugar again or should the goals be to keep the bs a touch higher?? Thanks in advance for any insights!! God bless Deb
Guest guest
Deb, Welcome. My wife's a nurse and when she and her friends get together I can never decipher their alphabet soup. Even being a diabetic, I can't honestly say I understand exactly all of your info below. I think it's terrific you find this fascinating, I hope you are able to maintain that feeling long-term as I think it's a real healthy way to look at things. I absolutely agree that your body will have to readjust to what normal feels like. As to being comfortable with above 110, for me it's a matter of when. I'd like to be there or a little lower 3 hours after eating and for a good part of the day. Not possible for me to be there less than 1 1/2 hours after eating unless I take so much insulin or eat so little food I risk getting pretty low at 2 to 3 hours. Good Luck, Jim > > Hi all, Deb here. But as you experience more normal blood sugars, your body will gradually re-calibrate, and 110 will then feel perfectly normal. , Charlottte NC T2 since 1998, diet and exercise
