Guest guest Posted June 19, 2004 Report Posted June 19, 2004 , It took almost a year for me to be diagnosed with my RSD. I have it in my right knee and low back. My doctor said it was very difficult to diagnose, because the symptons in the lower extremities can be very different. Some people get numbness or sensitivity, and some get severe pain. He told me that through recent studies most people with Rsd in there legs will not get discoloration or swelling. I hope this helps a little and I hope you are feeling better! It was diagnosed by two different docs as 'myofascial pain' from overuse. I had definite trigger point pain. A couple weeks ago, I noticed a numb feeling in my big toe at night---as I'd step into the tub, I really noticed it. Last weekend I noticed numbness on the top of my foot and around my ankle. Doc didn't think it was rsd because it didn't hurt. Actually though it was hurting, I just wasn't paying it attention because it didn't hurt as bad as my arm. It still has numbness and if I touch my ankle area hard or rub it, it does hurt. I saw a surgeon on Mon to discuss possible transposition of the radial nerve endings. We haven't made any decision yet---the three of us--pain doc, surgeon, and myself are supposed to be getting together and putting our heads together before any decision is made. W/C case worker was at the surgical appt---told me she doesn't see any vocational rehab potential in me....I think deep down I knew this but just don't want to accept it. UGH I've had enough. Quote
