Hey allSorry I've been so quiet this week. I've had a physically tough assignmentthis week and its drained me by the end of the day. I've been hurting everyday when I get home from work. I'm haiting it too because its been greatweather for walking the beach at night and I simply havent had the energy atthe end of the day. I cant say this has done much for my spirits. On the bright side, I applied for a transfer to a 32 hr position doing dataentry within the same facility that I currently work for. My case manager isconcerned though that all those hrs in front of a computer wont be muchbetter for me in the long run, however as I explained to her its either Itransfer to a lighter job or I end up leaving all together. I simply CANNOTdo this work any longer, I hurt all over and have days where not only

am Iswollen at the lower part of my wrist but i ache right up to my shoulder, across my neck and down my other arm. To top it off, I started trying to geta script to continue transfer from OT to PT about 3 weeks ago so that mytime wouldnt lapse between treatments and as luck would have it wasunsuccessful, so now I have to wait til my appt the 21st of this month whichputs me 2 weeks without ANY treatment at all and probably another 2 weeksbefore I can get back in due to scheduling conflicts....GRRRRRRRRRR...itsgoing to be a long month without any hands on treatment! Anyway, thanks guysfor listening :)BTW Welcome Sabi, I've been reading the posts but havent felt much likeposting.Hope everyone is having a great day!Donna

well having put it that way guess it would be easier than the full on manul work you mentioned... have also heard there is a special key board that allows you to rest your arm on it... will try to find out what its called.

I figure that at least with data entry Im a little more free to take the occasional break, wear the lidocaine patches, wear my brace and see where it goes from there. The level of pain at worst is a 6 on a bad day, most days its not too bad though and I can function..just a bit slower. Its not a fast paced job where I would have huge deadlines to meet and its 8 hrs less a week than Im currently doing where I am on my feet, lifting residents, hauling heavy trays and

trying to dress unwilling bodies, so its gotta be a better choice to do the data entry.Have a great dayDonna

Donna,

Yeah, I see your point about the data entry position...it sounds much less taxing than what you are doing now. Are you going to be working 32 hours over a 5 day week or just work 8 hours and 4 days? Just be sure to take breaks at least every hour. This may seem obvious but since you haven't had a desk job I wanted to remind you. I smoke so when I'm at the office I get up and go outside, just to rest my hands and walk around a bit so I don't get too stiff. Even when I'm working at home I try to do this...I can smoke so I don't have to get up for smoke breaks but I still try to rest every hour.

As for the braces it's hard for me to judge because my hands are swollen pretty much all the time anymore. But I do have to take the braces off for a while and then put them back on. Are you taking any anti-inflammatory? I was for a while but my doc told me to stop taking it as it wasn't doing any good. I'm also glad you have some exercises to do at home while you wait to switch to PT. The massage part is difficult...have you had a deep massage since the RSD? I used to get massages all the time but I couldn't imagine having one now, but if they help you then I hope the time goes by real fast for you to start PT. When do you start the new job or have you started it already? Anyway, trying to save my hands so I'm going to go. I hope you had a good day and I'll talk to you soon.

<hugs> Lori

Im not sure what the hours are going to be yet. I have a meeting with

the director tomorrow afternoon.

As far as getting up and moving every hour or so, I get wrapped up in

what Im doing and lose track of time, but Im sure that my body will

yell when its time to take a break.

I havent had a desk job in several years, so this will be a big

change for me. Im not used to sitting down and staring at a computer

screen, my instincts are too intuned lately to the sounds of the

unit..the alrams, the incessant chatter of the residents and the

general day to day chaos that is my home 40 hrs a week.

I stopped taking the anti-inflammatorys they had me on. It was doing

a number on my stomach and not producing great results for my

swelling.

I havent been wearing the braces as much as I should. My newest one

was made for sleeping. This I found to be a pain as I would roll over

on it and it stood out like a kickstand lol! My partner found this

rather inconvenient too as I clocked him a few times in my sleep with

it, so it became yet another thing to take up space in my drawer.

having one now,

I have found that the deep tissue massage has helped my neck a great

deal which is in almost constant spasms, however as far as my upper

arm and wrist area..now thats a different story. It hurts in ways I

cannot explain to someone who doesnt suffer from this!

When do you start the new job or have you started it already?

Anyway,

Soon I hope, REAL soon..the job popening says IMMEDIATE opening...:)

Hope you had a great day and a painfree night!

HUGS

Donna
