Guest guest
Beth, call Debbie and get the Patient and read it. Take it with you when you go see your PCP, so if he has never heard of it. My PCP had not heard of it, so I took him a copy of the manuel. He read over it, and was sold on the idea. He knew I had been battling obesity all of my life, so he was behind me 100%. It will go over with your Dr. better if you are knowledged on the procedure and what is expected afterwards. I guarantee you, if he is thinking about what is best for you in the long run, he will support you! Best of luck. Guest guest
Hi Beth, here. Was really nervous about talking to my PCP also. She is a leader of the local First Place Diet Program( of which i am a wagon faller offer) in town so I felt sure she would give little support. To my surprise she backed me up 100%. She said she saw that i was determined and thought I was an excellent candidate and she wished me well and will support and help however she needs to. Hope you get the same response. Good luck. Guest guest
Welcome Beth... Don't fear your Doctor, they are just a person. If you know this is what you want then tell him/her that and that you'd like them to follow you after the procedure. What you need is a statement from them saying they will continue to follow you after you have had the surgery. Its your life, your body and your choice. Good luck, Cheryl

Guest guest
Hi Shari, My name is Elaine. I just want to say welcome. I'm fairly new too and I just want to say that RP is different for everyone. Some people have remissions that last years to a lifetime. You might be one. There are over 140 members to this group and alot are not posting regularly because they are busy leading normal lives. Just keep a positive attitude and take care of your self when you feel sick. I know I was really anxious when the docs didn't know for sure but when they finally said it was Rp I actually was releived because I knew what it was and it is treatable. Us newbies are fortunate because we get diagnosed and get treatment early. Just take it easy and take care of yourself. I always try to think that at least I have a treatable disease and have a whole lifetime ahead of me. Take care and be well, Elaine RE: New member Hi, - Thanks so very much for your kind note welcoming me to the RP list. You all seem to have a very supportive and caring community, and I feel fortunate to have found it. The down side is that I find myself becoming more anxious when I read about everything you all have to cope with. If I do have RP, it seems to be mild right now. It's frightening to see what I may have to face down the road, and quite honestly, I'm not sure I'm up to that! I have to give it some thought. I'll post something along these lines to the list as well, but I wanted to thank you personally for welcoming me. Best regards, Shari -----Original Message-----From: RCColloran@... You will find a wonderful group of people here who are willing to answer any question, listen to any need to vent and help with whatever troubles you and you husband may encounter. I'm sorry such a sad reason brings you and him to this group, though. I hope your husband starts to feel somewhat better soon and can join in the discussions/chats with this group.
