Guest guest
To keep our cats safe, my husband built an outdoor cathouse--connected to the house by a doggy style flap door. They can go " outside " , but stay safe because they are in a wired house with several levels to sun themselves. They climb up on their scratching post (also built by my husband) on to a ramp where they can either continue onto the platform by the ceiling or go outside. Guest guest
That sounds very cool! Could you ask your hubby how I can keep my big tortoise from coming in my house (during the day I keep the back door propped open for the dogs to come in and out) Just yesterday, I was taking a nap, my dogs were beside the bed barking, I got up to see what was up, the tortoise had traveled, thru the kitchen, down the hall, into the bedroom, and on the side of the bed on the floor for a little visit LOL!! Guest guest
Contessa, much sympathy--the hardest thing for me has been to wear something on my feet all the time. I have always gone barefoot whenever possible, and not just in summer--outside in the snow or ice, whenever. (Okay, not for hours in winter, but if I needed to get something from the car, I never bothered to put on shoes if I was barefoot.) Even now, I tend just to wear a pair of thick sock-type slippers, but that gets on my nerves because I'm always too hot, and taking the socks off is the quickest, easiest way to cool off. Sigh. (And don't get me started about fluffernutters!) Mellanie CROWTHER QUOTES: Evan (after building a Star of with Legos): I used math to do it. Guest guest
All three of our cats are declawed...and never ever ever go outdoors. I like it that way, for more reasons than one! Maralee >^..^< Being a hefty cat, she's got a very BAD habit of using people as launching pads. I've got scars from where she's use my legs or torso as a springboard, digging those hind claws in as she jumped. She's come tearing across the bed at night and gotten us both with the splayed claws. My fiance says if she keeps this up she's going to find herself FULLY declawed for mommy's safety. She's already had her front ones removed as it was required in a previous apartment where I was living. I'd hate to do that to her because then if she accidentally gets out, she has no means of defense at all.
