sad news

I don't know if you remember your baby brother, Fein from LA, CA. He

has WLS fall 2001 and did extremely well. Was very enthusiastic in the WLS

community and started a support group, etc. And he was a personal buddy of

mine.

He died suddenly this week. If you are in Los Angeles and knew him, the

service is Thursday at 11am.

Mt Sinai

5950 Forest Lawn Drive

LA 90068

His death was unrelated to his WLS. He was fine one minute, gone the next, no

sign of illness. They're thinking blood clot. Like me, he was a very sick fella

when he had his surgery. I like to think he got an extra 15-16 months more out

of his life (which he loved) than he would have without surgery.

I'll miss him very much.

I certainly remember him, I'm just in shock that he died. I'm glad that the

last months that he lived were better quality.

  • 1 year later...

Thank you Dolores for the sad news but he won't be lonely now and is free of

his pain. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to meet him at our/your first

PLS Connection. You were a good friend to him. I had just bought another

card to send to him yesterday.

Thank you Dolores for letting us know about Alan Kirk.

That is so sad to here of his passing. I pray that God will give his family the

strength to get through this. Sandy

sad news

I come to you with sad news. Our dear PLS Friend, Alan Kirk has passed away.

He was a kind and gentle man and loved by all who knew him. His passing is a

great tragedy and a deep loss for me as well.

Alan was so appreciative of the support that many PLS Friends and HSP group

people have shown to him over the years of his declining health and subsequent

confinement to a nursing home. His family also sends their thanks to everyone

who remembered him with visits, phone calls, and cards and letters.

He was very spiritual and his faith in God sustained him and comforted him.

Therefore, Alan had expressed a desire to have memorial donations made to his

church in lieu of flowers; it is the Simsbury United Methodist Church, 799

Hopmeadow Street, Simsbury, CT 06070. I am not soliciting donations, just

providing the information for anyone who may want it.

On a personal note, I want to thank all who responded to my requests for

holiday, birthday, and encouragement cards for him. Your support meant a lot to

me, too. Please pray for the repose of his soul and for strength for his dear

daughter, , who will now have to live her life without the devoted

love of her Dad.

Fondly,

Dolores

Hi Dolores:

I am so saddened by Alan's passing, he truly was an absolute kind and

gentle man. However, knowing him the way I did, his passing is almost

comforting to me to know that he is finally at peace (I think you know

what I mean). Thank you for being there for him, you are truly a

special lady.

Rita

Till next time!

Oh Dolores, I am so sad, you may remember I use to write him a short note

several times a month with some Dilbert jokes. But after my ordeal all I

did was email since writing was so difficult. Just last night I finally

spent a bunch of time writing a short note on a card. I was too tired to

finish his address on the envelop, it sits on my desk with just Alan written

on it, I was going to send it out today... It brings a tear to my eyes. I

just got on the computer and am having a difficult day and this is almost

the first message I read...

I'm so very sad.

you were his angle and thank you for that.

Dolores:

I am deeply saddened to hear of Alan's passing. At least he is in a peaceful

place and will be watching over us.

Please give my condolances to his daughter. You are in my thoughts at this sad

time also Dolores.

Sincerely

Jo.
