Guest guest
Miriam, I am two weeks post op and have not been able to put anything on my incision yet. Should be able to in a few days when the steri-strips fall off. Plan to use Scar Gel made by Derma-e. My husband had surgery on his face and used it, can't even see his scar now unless you know where to look and look very hard. He has no problem with the incision and looks at it as a part of me getting healthier. Guest guest
Miriam, my husband Bob looks at my scar as a symbol of my strength. He is very proud of me. He thinks surgery was a brave thing to do, and helps me by encouraging me to walk and walking with me, by eating just a little differently now (I cook up dinner for one and eat some of it. He eats the rest.) and he's been losing weight too. We see things happening slowly, such as the reawakening of our sex life, which was disrupted by the terrible depression I suffered over my weight for many years. I feel lucky to have such a caring person go through these enormous changes with me. Sharon in D.C. Guest guest
Hello I had Lap last week I have 7 tiny bandaids I have more because I needed my gallblader out. They are not painful for me just just hard to get up from the bed then i feel that sensation. I dont think they leavr to bad of a scar, when Ihave the steristrips falloff I will start puting cocoa butter on it . As far as the partner response to it , he was just happy that everthing turned out fine in surgery and says that the little strips arent bad at all:) Belly Scar Hi Everyone, Hope eveybody had a great holiday...I am finding that in my last few pre-op days I now have alot of questions...This one is for the open vs lap people out there....Your scar, How has your partners responded to them....What treatment have you used to minimize scar formation. Guest guest
Miriam, I'm concerned too about the belly scar, but it has to be better than the sexy " " mask I have to wear each night because of the sleep apnea I've incurred because of my nasty eating habits that has caused me to be a prime poster child for gastric bypass surgery. I kind of like the mask though, and I think I'll like the scar even better.....it will keep hubby at bay LOL. I truly think it depends on how your body handles scaring. Some people scar severely, and some don't scar much at all. I'm one of the lucky ones that don't scar much at all, not that I'm not going to have a huge scar, but I'm not too worried about hubby, he married me for me, not what I look like.....didn't you honey? Guest guest
If you want your keloid to go away, get it injected at the derma. Then use the _________ to fade it out. I used Scargo ( & the derma) and they are pretty flat & definitely faded now. He's too busy .. er, well, ::blush:: Anywhoo... about minimizing scars. I've read lots of tips and some swear by vitamin e oil, others swear by cocoa butter or shea butter. I make those ugly ole keloid scars that take FOREVER to fade and lie down flat. I rub shea/cocoa butter in some nights and other nights I use vitamin e oil. Take good care and Happy New Year! Guest guest
I have a scar that starts at breast bone and goes far south, I have had 2 prior surgeries and then my WLS. It doesn't bother him at all. To be honest with you he uses it to his advantage in a sexual way we'll leave it at that. Don't let the scar bother you or your spouse. Its like being in war its an act of honor, to have fought the fight now winning the war!!! Good Luck Happy Holidays! Guest guest
<>< Is it your skin or the person inside that skin that your husband loves? My late husband loved me for the person I was/am, not for the scars (or lack thereof) on my body. I had 5 children when I met him, and had lots of stretch marks, a scar from my gall bladder removal and flab from gaining and losing weight. I often wondered how he could love me, but, over the 16 years we were together I discovered it wasn't so much the body, but, the whole person he loved. Maybe he loved me because with him I was free and natural and really liked myself. I still do, but, I just don't like the fat that is hanging on to me! Learn to love you, and he will to.
